To All,

Help Needed - Wetting Problem in Proton Wira.

The Problem
-----------

1) I have a Proton Wira 1.5GL manual (1995 model).

2) A piece of rubber floor mat (RFM) is placed on the carpeted floor
board of the front passenger compartment.

3) The underside of the RFM becomes wet ( 'sweating' ) after the car
air condition system has been switched on for more than half an hour.
However the top of the RFM remains dry.

4) Due to the constant 'sweating' I have to place some dry rags
underneath the RFM to keep the carpeted floor board dry.

My Investigations And Observations
----------------------------------

1) When the RFM is removed from the car and the air condition switched
on for the same length of time, the carpeted flooring remains dry.

2) I noticed that the floor board of the car is warm. This could
probably be caused by the heat from outside the car, especially when
the engine is on.

3) The RFMs of both the driver and rear passenger compartments are
dry.

4) I am unable to find any air condition water droplets at the
underside of the dashboard.

5) I can however feel some cool air blowing downwards from under the
dashboard.

YOUR VALUABLE ADVICE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WILL BE MOST APPRECIATED.
THANK YOU.
Please direct me to the most suitable news group if you know of any.

The drain from the air conditioner condensate pan often runs through a hose
and through the floor
in the passenger side.

I suspect this drain hose leaking, or maybe just water dribbling down the
outside.

If you take up the floormat, most likely the slight moisture evaporates.
Put it down, and
you see the trapped moisture as condensate.

Just my guess....

their must be an air gap between the RFM and the floorboard, a difference in temperature.
the floorboard is warming underneath the RFM, at the same time their is a constant cool
breeze on the other side of the RFM causing condensation to form on the warm side of the
RFM. unfortunately this is going to happen!!!
...but first check to see if insulation has not been removed from the engine compartments
firewall - should be some insulation preventing heat from entering inside the vehicle. if
everything is in-place then you may re-direct or block the cool air from blowing towards
the RFM. this should help if not cure the problem!!!

Your car's air cond drain might be clogged. Most cars has it aircond dain hole below the dashboard of passenger seat. Check on internet to see how to clean it. You can do it on yourself.
(Although it's stupid to reply a 15 yrs old post, but i think it might help if someone check this ancient post out like me)

Not stupid at al! :) If it results in exchange of beneficial
information, go for it.
