Mill Valley, CA - Burns Racing Team of Indianapolis and four-time Indy
500 driver Dominic Dobson will be competing in this year's Indy 500.
The team will field a 1991 Lola which was driven by Al Unser, Jr. last
year, and will be powered by a Chevrolet engine.
Dobson drove a 1989 Lola/Judd for Thom Burns to a 13th place finish in
last year's event. Dobson had originally planned to race a
Buick-powered car for Concept Motorsports in the Memorial Day classis.
Major sponsors of the effort include the Tobacco Free America project,
and Coors Pure Water 2000. The team is also associated with Rally's
Restaurants and the Indianapolis Department of Parks and Recreation.
The 1988 Indy 500 Fastest Rookie will be competing in three additional
events this year, including Portland, Vancouver B.C., and Laguna Seca.
"This is the finest equipment I've driven yet," said Dobson. "In past
years, Chevrolet has been the engine to beat. I'm very excited to
finally be driving one."
Dobson is a long-time Bay Area resident. He currently makes his home in
Truckee, California.
