I just read on NHRA page that Steve Evans died in Las Vegas getting ready
for a World of Outlaws race.
Though mainly known for being a drag racing announcer, he also did TNN`s
first ever live Nascar race from Rockingham
a rain delayed race.
He was great racing man and will be missed.

RIP Steve.
One of the truly great voices in racing, and someone who did an enormous
amount to bring Drag Racing and other series into the mainstream. He will
be missed.

He was certainly the voice of dragracing for as long as I can remember. I met him at the Spring
Nationals back in the 80s -- a super nice guy if there ever was one.

I don't think RPM 2Nite even mentioned his passing last night, but I could be wrong (I was channel
surfing during commercials and may've missed it).

This is such sad news. Steve was truely one of the best there was. My boyfriend
goes to the 12 hours of Sebring every year with a bunch of his pals. This years
event, Steve Evans did the intro to the 12 hours of Sebring from atop our van.
He was very nice to everyone and got a big kick out our car we have painted
like the 3 car. Here's the pictures if you'd like to see of him doing the
intro.

You will be missed Steve!

That is very sad to hear. I will have to admit, though, I have been
wondering about his health. For some of those WoO shows, he really didn't
look that well. Other times he didn't seem to bad. I remember one
broadcast in particular that he seemed to be shaking the entire time. He
will be truly missed.

Now the real sad part is that we will probably have to be subjected to more
of Ralph Shaheen.

RPM did mention it at the end of the show.
