Skeet Ukrich was on the Kilborn show and he said that Ricky Rudd is his uncle.
He went on to say his step-dad is the only guy ever kicked out of NASCAR for
cheating. He was caught with a NO2 bottle in his car after a crash, but went on
as a team owner and gave several drivers their start in NASCAR. Any idea who he
was talking about?

His step-pop is D. K. Ulrich, a driver in the late '70s/early '80s. After
driving he became an owner and gave Ernie Irvan and Tim Richmond their first
cup rides. Dunno about the NO2 deal.

I can attest to Skeet being Ricky's nephew. I went to college with a guy
from Concord (NC) who told me this same story probably 5 or 6 years ago,
after Skeet had been in his first couple of roles. My buddy and Skeet went
to high school together, he even showed me an annual with his and Skeet's
pictures in it as proof. Its almost like one of those 'seven degrees of...'
kinda things. :) Dunno who his dad was tho.

Among others, Ulrich has owned cars driven by Rudd, Mark Martin,
Sterling Marlin, Ted Musgrave, Moirgan Shepherd, Greg Sacks and Richard
Petty.

In the 1978 Southern 500 Ulrich and Grant Adcox had a big wreck (both
were badly injured), and the side was torn off Ulrich's car. This
exposed a hidden nitrous bottle. He was suspended for the rest of that
season.

He was the last driver parked by NASCAR until Harvick last year,
although Junior Johnson (as an owner) was banned from entering cars for
four races in 1991 after being caught with an oversized engine (in the
Winston!), and a Stavola Bros. car (driven by Jeff Burton) was
disqualified from a race in 1994 for lightening the roll cage.

AJ Foyt and Darrell Waltrip had their qualifying times thrown out at the
1976 Daytona 500 after NASCAR found evidence that they'd used nitrous.

There's a pretty famous (from what I hear) porn star in my kid's '00
yearbook.

LOL! Now that's funny. *Most* porn stars went to high school I'd think, so
it shouldn't be too big of a shock. Of course, with the proliferation of the
video camera, I'd bet a lot of folks I went to school with are porn stars in
their own right, even if their work has not been of a commercial nature ;)

I went to high school with a Miss North Carolina. About as famous a person
as I actually *know*. Met Fish Fishbourne on an airplane once too, sat
beside him from Atlanta to Kansas City... :) NASCAR drivers don't count.
I've met dozens of them over the years (met Ryan Newman this past Sunday in
the Alltel suite before the Rock race, pictures coming soon I hope). Same
goes for famous coaches, living around Chapel Hill and Raleigh, I've been in
restaurants at one time or anotherwith Coach K (Dook), Dean Smith & Bill
Guthridge (both UNC) and even Roy Williams (KU) and Jimmy V (NCSU)before he
passed away. Also see Michael Jordan about every 3rd time I go to his place
over in Chapel Hill for dinner. There's also my famous run-in with Kevin
Costner during the Jimmy V Memorial Golf classic in Cary, NC. Short
prick....

This from an on-line interview/profile of Skeet I found:

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Rampart/5178/Skeet.htm

Excerpt:
=========================
Skeet moved around - Poughkeepsie, Virginia, Miami - until age mine,
when his mother married a man named Ulrich, moved to Concord, North
Carolina (near the Charlotte Motor Speedway), and changed her kids' last
name. Skeet hung out around the racetrack; his stepfather was "one of
the grunts of the sport" who eventually wound up running a team instead
of driving, but his mother's brother, Ricky Rudd, is one of the top ten
drivers in the country. Skeet remembers pulling legendary driver Richard
Petty around in a cart for a quarter, and being fussed over by "God"
Dale Earnhardt.
========================

Cool.

Not that I know anything about porno, but that would be Traci Lords that your
son went to school with.
