He then celebrated with friends and family, including his only
sister, Kimberly Coykendall, who through bad timing had missed the
first 80 victories of his Cup career.

Don't you think that passing strange that after a period of almost 15 years,
she has never found the time to come to a race and join him in victory lane?

Who knows...maybe she's older; disabled; maybe she stayed with Jeff's
biological dad (is he still around?); none of our beeswax. Maybe
she's been at championship banquets or other Nascar functions, just
not in VL. He was really excited that she was there, though.

I'm thinking she hadn't had her shots until recently and didn't feel it
save to visit a NASCAR track...

I agree. Jeff's familial issues are no business of ours. The story -
its wording at least- is typical of Jenna Fryer. Proof positive of
what a journalism degree and a passing fancy of NASCAR can get you,
even without much actual writing talent.

I'd rather read Mulhern or Poole instead of Jenna, which is saying a
lot. lol

Not only that, the writer said his sister was never there when he won, not
that she'd never been to a race he participated in. I've been to dozens of
Na$car races over the years & have yet to see Gordo win one.
I'm hoping that changes this week at M'ville...

I'd love to!
Got a place I can stay near the track?

If you are going to Marty this weekend, you definitely have a decent
shot at seeing him win. If he doesn't, JJ likely will. Jeff Burton and
Dale Junior are my dark horses. Junior - actually, the whole 8 team -
is due a break and always runs good at Marty. Burton is also good at
Marty and has had some crappy luck of late as well.

I am skipping the Cup race there this weekend but am going to the CTS
race. Better racing (IMHO) and we get to see some incoming
super-rookies too (Franchitti, Villeneuve, etc).

Since Bristol changed the racing surface (and the racing there), M'ville is
now my home track. I hear it's gonna be 85 & sunny on Sunday, so my Sunday
night stay in Roanoke should be just a nice wind down for the weekend. It
will be nice to wear shorts at the track too. I'd like to see the truck race
as well, but can't at this point. I'll say "Hi!" to a couple of hotdogs for
ya!
