He was one of the best Nascar drivers that there ever was. Why else would
there be a movie made about his relationship with his crew chief Harry Hyde?
(Yes, the movie in itself is a bit debateable, but nonetheless)....
It's people with all this venom and bad ideas of Tim that people like myself
can't get a moment of silence held for him. Over 700 letters were sent last
year to Dr. Joe Mattioli, owner of the Pocono raceway to hold one minute of
silence for Tim. Did it happen? Of course not. With over 700 letters sent,
I'd say the man still has some fans out there that know and understand what he
was all about.
This Gena Lookabill Green that claims she was engaged to Tim is lying. She
never met the Richmonds, they were never engaged. If she would have
contracted it from Tim, it would have been prior to 1985. If someone
contracted AIDS in 1985, they would not be alive today. And yes, I do have
contact with the two reminaing family members, so I do know what was going
on.
Please, just let us that knew him remember him for what he was. One of the
best NASCAR racers that ever lived.

I thought you said you knew him personally? Now your mother just wrote
stories in the paper about him?

Because your mom wrote about him he was a great person?

Call it a hunch, but I'd say she is AMY.

So is Tommy Morrison, but that doesn't stop the ignorance.

No 'w' in that holly. In defence, AMY is not accused of knowingly
spreading the HIV virus to other people.

Not from my understanding, he was quite a womanizer, and I don't know
of too many people like that I call golden hearted myself. Do you
think Clinton is Golden? Me either.

Finally, a fact.

Umm, better choose some different wording, and the reason that movie
was made is for the same reason every other movie is, MONEY!
It was not a documentary, it was entertainment.

That's the dumbest idea I've ever seen here. You can't get the
moment of silence because whoever controls that doesn't want it.

Did it ever occur to you, that maybe Dr. Mattioli knows the truth none of
us do and that was why?

You know this is the most idiotic thing. You, nor I, nor ANY other fan
has a single idea of who any driver has and hasn't slept with or under
what circumstances it was or wasn't done.
> This Gena Lookabill Green that claims she was engaged to Tim is lying.
And your proof is? Just what I thought, the same proof those you despise
use, absolutely nothing.

While I don't know the Richmonds, I do know that this is 100% BULLSHIT!
The HIV virus can lay dormant for AT LEAST 10 years, from then it
compromises the immune system [you still don't have AIDS a this point].
After a period of time, which I know not, but would guess 6 months
minimum, your immune system is so minimal that you are considered to
have AIDS [Auto Immune Deficiency Syndrome or lack of White BC's]. From
here you will undergo treatment through drugs, this happened even back
in 85', that will attempt to prevent simple infections such as fungal
pnuemonia, etc... Someone who got contracted the HIV virus in 84' could
very well be alive today, just so you know.

Perhaps you should remember him as a great driver, and drop the great
person part if you don't want to have to question your own opinion of
him then.
No one thoght Ted Bundy was a bad guy either, remember? That is except
his Ex-girlfriend. It is too bad the Washington police didn't listen to
her, we might have saved quite a few lives and embarrasements if
they had.

Nascar's new wave: 99, 97, 28, 26, 24, 18, 16, 12, 1 - Any questions?
700 letters? that doesnt represent a majority or even a sampling of the
100,000+ fans who pile into the grandstands for a race at pocono.
hell, ill bet half of those 700 were second letters of the first 350 people.

An otherwise good post ruined by this line, Rattboy. I don't see why
y'all can't grow up and stop this ridiculous rumor. I like to read
this NG, and don't consider myself wholly er than thou, but enough is
enough!
Hope that helps!

13 career wins...makes a great driver ????
I'm sure to get it for jumping in here, but, why is he held on such a
high pedestal for one good season...and that was in 86 - 7 wins...in a
Hendrick car no less.
82 - 2 wins
83 - 1
84 - 1
85 nuthin
86 - 7
87 - 2
last 2 years with Hendrick. I remember one year at Darlington, this
nut wrecked the same car at least 5 or 6 times, and kept driving like
a bat outta hell. What's the point?
Seems to me like a predecessor for the "great" Ernie Irvan. Put him in
some decent equipment, and if he doesn't wreck (which is very likely)
he may bull his way to the front. I think that's why Earnhardt liked
him...he liked to rub n race and could give it as well and wasn't
intimidated.
But to call him one of the greats, is a stretch.. To put this in
perspective, he won only 5 more races than Kyle Petty. The standards
have been steadily dropping...may be a result of the wonderful
educational system ( whizzzz, whirrrrr, plunk ) that wants everyone
to feel good about themselves no matter whether the accomplishmentss
themselves are insignificant.
Don't get me wrong, it's fine to be a fan of his. Just don't try to
sell me on his "greatness as a racer". Sorry.
A journeyman at best...with an alcohol problem combined with a
schedule involving constant travel that allowed him to play around at
every stop on the schedule...without a family base to keep him
grounded. Wasted talent. IMO
Just my .02 - I'm sure I'll be receiving change.
