My heart goes out to the family of the man who died and to young Adam as
well. Feel like someone hit me in the stomach. Little wars here seem not
so important.

Didn't know if word about the ASA series gets around too fast, so I figured
I'd help speed it along a little... Just got back from the Minnesota State
Fair where the ASA series Miller Lite 300 was held, and there was a serious
incident. Adam Petty, running in 3rd place, was pitting under caution and
changing right side tires. As happens from time to time, the right front
tire changer got his air hose stuck, and while trying to get it out, the jack
was dropped and Adam stuck the gas. The tire changer was on his stomach with
his legs off to the right side of the car, and the right side tires went over
the back of his legs, with his entire upper torso and head going under the
car. The race was red-flagged for 15 minutes or so while an ambulance took
him off the track to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he was listed in
critical condition until about 8:00 PM tonight, where he died. His name has
been unreleased as of yet on request from the family. Adam ended up blowing
the motor up pretty bad, don't know exactly how he finished.

Holy cow!

I did some digging around the various online sporting news sites, but I
didnt find anything about this incident. Just a paragraph about a woman
that died of a heart attack in the infield during the Darlington race.

I dont think the pit crews get the credit they deserve! Kinda like the
ground-crew that does all the work to maintain the jetfighter, but the
pilot gets the glory for flyin' the thing!

From what I've read...

This is really sad. It's strange; it says the name was held 'til the
family was notified, but then mentions a name. Read it yourself.

God...

Once again, I'm reminded of why being on the pit crew should
be considered one of the most dangerous parts of the job. My
prayers go out to this man and his family, and to Adam Petty,
who has to be devastated by the tragic misfortune...

Follow this URL: but I watched the entire thing, and that was an air hose he
was pulling out, not by any means a suspension adjustment...

I was at the race. The person was under the car making an adjustment when
the jack man let the car down. Adam, not knowing that someone was still
under the car, took off. Everyone at the race soon realized that what had
happened to the crew member was very serious.

That is terrible. My sympathy goes out to his family. This will be
hard for Adam Petty to survive also.

Don't forget the jackman. He's the one who dropped the car
on the guy and had him killed. He's gonna need some time off too.
The whole team will suffer.

My heart goes out to the whole team, and to Adam. If anybody has a
mailing address to the team, please post it. I would like very much
to send my sympathies.

FYI - Chris Bradley was Johnny Benson's crew chief when he was racing in
ASA. They won a championship together.

Deepest sympathies to the family of Chris Bradley. This is terrible.
He was only 40 years old....

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the crew member, as well as to
Adam... That will be a hard thing to live with... Life is strange, nothing
seems to happen the way it's supposed to, does it?
