Mary Frann Dead at 55

unknown causes (9/24 AP report). For those of you who aren't familiar
with Mary Frann, she played Joanne Louden on the Bob Newhart series
"Newhart".
She also dated Tim Richmond during the height of his NASCAR stardom --
an unfortunately, his secret ongoing bout with Acquired Immune
Deficiency Syndrome.
I always wondered how Ms.Frann had faired, considering the other women
Tim infected during the last few years of his life. Tim Richmond was
one of my favorite drivers and considering the national mentality at the
time, I won't judge the guy. But I'm bettin' Mary Frann is the latest
Tim Richmond AIDS casualty.

Yeah,you are probably right. I always liked Tim when he was a driver.
But his memory will always be tarnished in my eyes because of what he
did to these women who's only mistake was to be attracted to him. IMO
what he did by deliberatly having unprotected sex with these woman
knowing full well he had aids was morally equivelent to murder.

I don't think that in the 80's anyone really knew what the end result of
aids was, but today would be a different story.
BTW I thought Mary Frann was so pretty and a great actress, who else
could make Bald Newhart look good. RIP

Unfortunatly we did know about the causes and effects of aids in the
80's and so did Tim after he found out he was infected. Based on the
interviews in print and on television with his friends,relatives
doctors and the women (while they were still alive) it is very clear
that Tim purposefully did not tell his partners of his illness. Sorry
thats not my opinion. Just what happened.

We had a very heated discussion a few months back here on RASN
concerning this... some of us contended that since AIDS had such unfair
stigma attached to it (it was a "homosexual desease"), that coupled with
the deep denial experienced by many persons diagnosed with a fatal
desease makes Tim Richmond's continued sexual activity a little easier
to understand. In 1986, a sexy, good lookin' sports celeb didn't cop a
fatal desease from screwing the babes who were at every turn... or so we
all thought. These days, a Magic Johnson can come out and say "I caught
HIV from being too promiscuous & having unprotected sex" and most of us
admire his honesty & wish the best for him. But back in the late 80s,
people with AIDS had their houses burnt to the ground, got death threats
over the phone, were pretty much ostracized by their peers & the
community at large. It was a different era.
None of this excuses what he did, of course. But hopefully it gives us
all a better, less judgemental picture of the man.

That's not right. I knew from the time my son was born, in 1987, b/c me
and my ex were worried about needing a blood transfusion. If you said

What??? BiG thinks a homosexual preditor (Jeffrey Dahmer) is cool? Is

Bill Clinton??? You should know by now that those missiles get rusty
sitting around the ammo bunker... what's better using them on terrorists
or to let a million dollars rust away. Besides, what better way to let
our military train in real life situations than to bomb the crap out of
some terrorist training base... I think we should do it on a weekly
basis. It warms my heart to see a Democrat pretending to be a
Republican.

Anyone who can drive a schoolbus where he did has got more balls than
Hornaday. While I don't condone murder, I'd invite Tim and Charlie over
