Best explanaton so far: maybe Astraweb re-indexed the newsgroup.

Try fiddling with your news reader to "see all posts" in rasnm.

That seems a reasonably likelyhood to me, too.

Altho Microsoft has never quite figured out that newsgroups are
different from email, and their email client has never quite
worked right as a newsreader, so it may simply be that your
newsreader is being ornery. If you're in the mood to experiment,
you might try a different newsreader - Xnews and Dialog can be
downloaded free, as can Mozilla Thunderbird; and it's not hard
to find an activation key for Agent if that doesn't distress
your morals too much.

I dunno how windows mail works as a newsreader either...when ya said ya
'synchronised' the group, does that mean ya un-subscribed and re-subscribed?
