Doggone, I can't help it - the pedant in me insists on pointing
out that the solstice is the middle...you have just as many dark
days to come as we have had so far. But at least the light gets
longer each day from here on.

That's the point (for me). Every day from now on is brighter
than the last.

I guess one of the side effects of living almost in the tropics
is not really experiencing that effect. The change in the length
of the day is much less here (today, we have an hour and half
more daylight than you do; in June we'll have that much less).

Understood. I love the long days of summer. It's really
quite remarkable to have light in the sky until after
9:00 PM!

I had a similar problem a year or so ago- my posts didn't show up, but
replies to them did. Since my ISP tech support can barely spell
Usenet, I communicated with Agent tech support. They opined that the
news server had re-indexed some or all of their groups. This
supposedly results in your post being given a message ID that is
smaller than the "current message value" for the group that is stored
in your newsrc(?) file. This causes your reader to not retrieve your
post, since it thinks it is out of date. The problem usually clears
itself up in a few days. That is one reason I e-mail my RPGs in
addition to posting them. So I know they made it to the group.
