Jayski is reporting that "Mr. E.", Jimmy Spencer, is going to retire and move
back to Pennsylvania. I never really cared much for him as a driver, but he's
been most entertaining to watch on "The Hub". I especially love it when he gives
Kurt Busch the dickens.
Who should replace him? I'm thinking Kyle Petty or Kenny Wallace.

He's a complete meltdown.
But, to be honest, when the guy is not behind the wheel, you can't
ask for a better guy to talk to. He has always done a great job
commentating.
Seriously.
If you only knew Kurt, and did not know he was a driver, and then you
saw him in "driver mode" you would never believe it was the same guy.
I've been with him quite a few times, and I'm telling you.
It's Jeckyll and Hyde toe the n-th degree.

Other than his occasional tendency to use long words that
he doesn't actually know the meaning of, yeah, I'd agree
he could make a good commentator. Especially if it was in
a context where he could say what he thought, without having
to stick to a NASCAR pre-approved line.

work a bit to rank with Yogi Berra on language misuse, I think....but I
would agree that he'd be good in that role. Better than Rusty, I think.

True - but the ones we consider the greats, the Ned Jarrett
or Neil Bonnett class of color men, didn't do that. So if
Busch moves into commentary, and if he doesn't cure himself
of that issue, then he'd rank below those who speak plainly.
