Kinser pushed his MoPar-powered Maxim chassis sprint car around race-long
pacesetter Brian Paulus on the 16th lap around the four-tenths mile clay
speedway. Kinser went on to win by 5.63 seconds over Danny Wood of Norman,
Okla. Wood, last year's series Rookie-of-the-Year at the age of 42, charged
from 18th starting position to earn the runner-up honors. Kinser collected
$5,000 for his victory.

Dallas resident Paulus claimed the show position at the checkered flag.
Fourth place went to Brad Furr of Pleasanton, Calif. Furr heavily damaged
his car in a practice session crash prior to the program but his team made
repairs in time for the races. Furr was one of the fastest cars on the
track at the finish. Australian Brooke Tatnell finished fifth.

Daryn Pittman, Owasso, Okla., was the quickest of the 34 cars that broke
Mark Kinser's qualifying record set in 2000. Pittman turned the oval in
12.276 seconds, eclipsing Kinser's 12.950 seconds set last October 12.

Matt Clevenger of Flower Mound underwent precautionary tests at Harris
Methodist Hospital following a hard crash into the fourth-turn retaining
wall during the second heat race. Clevenger was listed in stable condition.
