2001 United States Formula 3 Champion, while Teammate John C. Antonino wins
last race of the season at Watkins Glen International. The Brazilian (GOL
Linhas Aereas Inteligents-Impact Protection System- Eurointernational
Dallara F300 VW) clinched his first major motosports title after a second
dominating season in USF3 with is first DNF after 14 wins in a row, due to
an engine trottle linkage failure with five laps to go, after have lead the
race from the start.
"I would like finish the season with another win " said the new USF3
Champion" but it's better to have my first mechanical problem only at the
last race. For two season the Eurointernational Team has done an incredible
work on my Dallara and 14 wins in a row are terrific. Now I like enjoy my
Championship Title and celebrate it in Brazil. Next Season I will race again
with Eurointernational and look for a major announce in few weeks."
For John C. Antonino , Watkins Glen International , is the first mayor race
win of his young racing career and the Bakersfield resident ended the season
in the most impressive way: win, pole and fastest race lap, breaking Luciano
Gomide streak of wins in USF3.

the 2001 Rookie of the Year USF3 Award.
Round 10 of the 2001 USF3 Championship was another battle Gomide-Antonino.
John C. Antonino starts from the pole with a new UF3 track record with
1'45"461, on the 3.4 miles Watkins Glen International road course, but is
Luciano Gomide to take the lead at the first corner.
The Brazilian in five laps takes his lead to 2"5 on Antonino, who reduce the
gap to 0.4" at lap 10 for some slow cars on the track. The traffic allows
Antonino to pass Gomide, in trouble with his engine at lap 11, and finally
retired at lap 14. For Antonino remains only to control the race up to the
end (19 laps/64.6 miles) with the fastest race lap on 1.46"270 at lap 17.
Eddie Claridge finished second after start third on the grid, and Tony
Carpanzano complete the podium.
The 2001 USF3 Championship end with Luciano Gomide Champion with 7 wins, 5
poles and 6 fastest race laps, with total 70 points, followed by John C.
Antonino with 1 win, 3 poles, 2 fastest race laps, and 46 points. Canadian
Kyle Herder is third with 17 points. Total 21 drivers have scored points in
the 2001 Season.
Eurointernational Inc. is the 2001 USF3 Champion Team with 8 wins and 6
second places finishes.
