Off the track Bubba Burger will be donating product to help the team host a
cookout at the event's street fair in Arcadia, CA Nov. 5 from 5-9 p.m. All proceeds
will be given to the Arcadia Chapter of the American Red Cross to benefit the victims
of the Southern California Wildfires. Jeff Fultz has even agreed to swap out his
driving gloves and helmet for an apron and a grill to cook up some of the Bubba
Burgers himself and meet with fans for autographs and pictures. It's a cause he says
both him and his team can relate to.
"We don't really have to deal with wildfires in North Carolina very much but
we've had hurricanes over the past few years that caused similar devastation," Fultz
said. "We had always planned to come out here and race this event but when we heard
what was happening we felt compelled to use the event as an opportunity to help the
people of the state hosting this race. I don't know how much we'll raise but we're
going to do our best to help them in some way."
The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown was not originally in the marketing plans for
Bubba Burger but according to Hickory Foods Chief Operating Officer, Steve Coon,
the crisis in California made the decision to partner with JCR3 an easy one.
"We are involved in NASCAR through the #59 Kingsford Charcoal car in the
Busch Series but additional sponsorship in another series was not in our plans," Coon
said.
"The team's idea to do this event off the track was really the clincher because
it gives us an opportunity to give back to a community we do business in. In Florida
we understand all to well the hardships people face with natural disasters and if we can
help at all we're pleased to do so."
