SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- For the
second consecutive year, VSM Abrasives has become the title sponsor for
the Canadian Invasion point fund for the Empire Super Sprints (ESS).
Points earned at the nine ESS events that will be held "North of the
Border" will carry a separate payoff from the ESS overall points
championship.
Last year, Canada's own Ryan Coniam collected the lions share from the
VSM point fund and ironically Coniam's main sponsor is the very same
Canada based company. With Coniam moving on to the All-Star Circuit of
Champions circuit for 2003, fans can expect a new Canadian Invasion
champion.
Five events will be held in the French speaking province of Quebec, two
each at Autodromes Granby and Drummond with a single show at the
Edelweiss Speedway in Cantley. The four events in Ontario will see two
at the Brockville Ontario Speedway with single stops to the Cornwall
Motor Speedway and for the first time ever the Ohsweken Speedway.
VSM Abrasives has been manufacturing quality coated abrasive products for
more than 137 years. Originally founded in Hannover, Germany in 1864, the
company initially marketed to European manufacturers. Due to the high
demand for their products in Europe, VSM decided to expand their
territory to the United States. In 1978, VSM broke ground to build a
manufacturing plant in O'Fallon, Missouri. Today that plant services all
of the United States as well as assists Mexico and Canada.
