After Arie Luyendyk won Indy this year he said in Victory Lane that this
"a lot better" than his first win which, by the way, was when "everybody
was there". In your personal opinion does that say an awful lot too?
Rex
In my personal opinion it means that he, like Cheever, is a shill for
the IRL and takes every opportunity to hype the series.

Personal opinion: I think that one statement says an awful lot.
Arie is undoubtably (sp?) a very fine driver. I would think that any driver,
when asked in victory lane, would rate his most recent win as better than one
that happened before (in the same race). I find it rather striking that Galles,
a car owner in both series at different times, made specific mention of the
fact that his win came when the CART regulars were at the speedway. If you do
not agree, then that is your personal opinion. Who am I to falt it?

Certainly, there are no shills for CART.

Was that the question you posed? No, you were trolling for something
else entirely and you got what you asked for. Now you try slipping
away into diversion.
Galles, an owner in both CART and the IRL (and now an IRL team
manager) on the occaision of selling his race team made the comment
about winning being more important when it was against the CART teams.
Luyendyk, an employee of an IRL team, made the comment you referenced.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, but this time, fishy, you're hooked good.

Yes. It says Arie is a good man when it comes to towing the company line.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that...

Galles qualified what he said, making it very clear.
Unless Arie actually included when "everybody was there" in his statement,
I have to take it as a personal statement about his triumph without
regards to anyone but himself.

Look up the word "shill" in the dictionary.

The 500 was alot better when every one was there and CART was alot better
when the 500 was on the schedule. Thats not my personal opinion thats a
fact.

There is if you happen to be looking for the truth.
That does not sound like the ringing endorsement that you make it out to be.
Save Open Wheel Racing -- Bankrupt the IRL
Actually, I think the quote of the year came from Felix Sabates:
"I gave Robby an unlimited budget (to run Indy), and he exceeded it."
Too funny, yet too true...;)

I can't resist. How about Tommy Kendall:
"I was going to say that Robby drove like
an idiot, but that's like saying the earth is
round"?
(Could be from 1996--I've been indexing
videotapes.)
