According to Ceefax, both of the drivers are too big for the McLaren
cockpit!! So your posting is just a little bit misleading, but like
usual, people free to attack fat people.

Actually, Hakkinen's comment was about what it was like for *him* in
the McLaren. He then said that it must be even worse for Mansell.

You should be aware that there are other dimensions on a human
other than his waistline, shoulders being the most notable and
probably one of the most important in single seat race cars.

I wonder how one obtains there black belt and be over wieght at the same
time??? Of course Mansell is not over wieght at all, but those of you who
cannot stand anything Mansell does must distort this and whine about it all.
Whine whine whine, thats all you and his other detractors do. Stop your
damn whining! Write something intelligent for a change.

Actually Mansell has been rumored to have lost upwards of fifteen pounds.
It's his forearms that are getting battered and Mika complained of the
same problem. Wait until race day to condemn the Nige.

That (body fat) has nothing to do with the hability to go through the belts progression.
At the Tae Kwen Do academy that my daughter attends some guys are so big that
it makes me afraid not of their athletic hability but their size...

cannot see it from the few pictures recently taken of him. Also, Karate and
Tae Kwen Do are two different diciplines. Karate requires a high level of
flexibility, which is in fact the reason NM did it in the first place. I
sincerely doubt NM is "fat" like you suggest. Please offer some solid
evidence.

That s easy. My martial arts teach is 3rd dan and a lot more overweight
than M. Weight has nothing to do with technique.

> Of course Mansell is not over wieght at all,

Untrue. Mansell is 175cm tall and weighs in at 76kg. That is 8.5kg over
the ideal weight for his size. For a driver this is both quite tall and
overweight.

I beg to differ. I merely relayed what German news had to say about a F1
driver. Relaying information isn t whining. I actually like Mansell quite
a lot more than Hill.

>My mistake for lumping you with the Mansell whiners. There are problems with
the idea that a person should way a certain weight because they are a certain
hieght. My point is simply this; I cannot acertain via several pictures of NM
where it is that he is fat.
my apologies for accusing you on the whining front. There are so manny silly
posts about Nm that I just assumed this was another one. Clearly it was not.

So height is the only criteria required to determine someones ideal
weight?

What garbage.

Yeah but that "ideal" weight is for an average person... who is to say that
Mansell is an "average" person... after all don't drivers weight train ? In
which case they would have more muscle, and thus be heavier. (You wouldn't
class a 240 pound 175cm Body builder overweight, would you).

To be honest the best way is to use your eyes... I for one don't see much
in the way of flab on Mansell...

Oh cut this out once and for all, McLaren have admited publicly that the car was
designed fit Mikka with the offchance that if David C was released from Williams
he should fit as well. As the saying goes "Well laid plans of mice and men" (maybe
Adams was correct) the car not only does not fit Nigel it is also a tight squeeze
to Mikka. So stop blaming Mansel for something that was not his fault, not under
his control and could do nothing to stop it. He joined McL after this design was
being built. The human race comes in all shapes and sizes, if you keep in shape
the body ajusts to what it thinks is best for you. There is NO NORMAL size. just
averages.

No one was truely to blame for this oversite, but its McL thats eating humble pie.

More like pathetic. But, I'd like to know what formula is used to get
ideal weight is and how many decimal places can you get with it?-)

I agree; doesn't anyone remember that McLaren also cut things a bit
tight when they hired Gerhard Berger -- the car was designed around
Ayrton Senna, and Berger was in considerable pain for several races
until they sorted out a new cockpit layout for him, and wasn't
truly comfortable until they produced a new tub.
