Putting "LOL" at the end of a post negates the worth of the post.

Reminds me of a Frank Zappa album
"We are only in it for the Money"
the cover was a remake of SGT pepers

This is an exceirpt from this article:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102906

"....
Had Schumacher been ready to sign a deal early on there was a high
chance Mercedes would have agreed a contract extension.

However, Mercedes bosses could not get a firm answer from Schumacher
about his plans - and became concerned that a late-call by Schumacher to
not continue could have left the team scrabbling around to try and find
a top-line replacement at a time when the driver market would be closed off.

Sources suggest that it was Schumacher's indecision that prompted the
initial call to push on with the Hamilton talks.
...."

WTF?!

Actually I *don't* think it's about money (or certainly not *just* about
money). I suspect that it has much more to do with Lewis's freedom to
exploit and develop his public image, especially outside F1.
Don't forget that his management also handle Beckham and the Spice Girls.
I would much rather see him concentrating on just being a racing driver
but I suspect there is part of him that loves all the showbiz razzamatazz.

If you remember, this was exactly the situation that led him to be
dropped by Ferrari.

Now that you mention it.

Now I wonder if this is some kind of contractual thing? Like in: If you
quit yourself, you get nothing. And if you have a signed contract on the
table but refuse to sign, you get a severance package including... well,
whatever. Nah, illogical. So, probably not.

So, a) he really didn't want another year with Merc. Or b) he was so
sure of his position that he wanted more money or whatever. Playing
poker. And losing.

Weird!

No, I'd say that it was exactly the same position as at Ferrari - he was
offered a contract that didn't guarantee him No. 1 status. (Which he is
now presumably looking for at Sauber.)

I reckon he'll have to become a pay driver to get a seat at Sauber.
Sauber will have some kind of pay off for Perez, but they won't want to
waste it on MS, especially if they have to fund all his crashes.

I reckon #1 was not and could not have been a part of MS contract.
Rosberg was signed before Schuey and Rosberg recently cited his contract
(in all this hassle if Ham is getting the #1 status) which guarantees
him the equal treatment to that of whoever happens to be his teammate.
According to this statement, MS was not the #1 in the last 3 years and
Mercedes could not give him the #1 status for 2013 without breaking
Rosbergs contract. Hence, that cannot be the reason why Shuey hesitated
to sign.

Well, it would be if Schumacher was insisting on No. 1 status.
