BTW, [re Welsh language] as a 71 year old English-born ex-pat, I have been bowled over by the resurgence of Welsh. I have recently been watching HINTERLAND, including the Welsh versions, and Welsh interviews with the cast.

I am so accustomed to hearing and seeing business and industry carried out in Mandarin and Arabic and German, without raising an eyebrow, but I am today surprised, near "shocked", to realize that lives and careers can be and are carried out in Welsh.

In all the years I was growing up and working in the UK, 40 years ago, I don't think I ever heard a whole sentence spoken in Welsh. It's good to be shocked out of one's assumptions now and then ----.

(I think Carmarthenshire is the main Welsh speaking place - Tom Pryce was speaking Welsh in the show - though Ruthin is in Denbighshire in north Wales)

The TV guide said English subtitles, but it actually ran without - sorry about that. We did get some English interviews and newspaper clippings though. The Token team - I'd forgotten about them)

I got the subtitles alright. Nothing new in the programme but good that
a very talented driver, who died too young, should be remembered, even
if only in Wales.

I had a nodding, paddock acquaintance with Tom in the early 1970s when
we were running a Marcos in Modsports and he, IIRC, was alternating
between F3 and Supervee for Royale.
