All the 3xWDCs had at least lost a WDC or even more before reaching
the third WDC.

Schumacher had lost 2 WDCs(1997 and 1998 both in the last race of the
season) before winning his third in 2000.

Prost lost 3 WDCs (1983 for Renault, 1984 and 1988 for McLaren) before
winning his third WDC in 1989.

Jackie Stewart lost 2 WDC(Matra in 1968 and Tyrrell in 1972) before
winnining his third WDC in 1973.

Niki Lauda lost 1 WDC (1976 in Ferrari) before winning his third WDC
in 1984.

Senna lost 1 WDC(1989) before winning his third WDC in 1991.

Fangio lost 2 WDC(1950 and 1953) before winning his third WDC in 1955.

Bottom line: Every single driver that won at least 3WDCs had lost at
least 1 WDC before reaching the 3WDC.

Is Vettel the greatest F1 driver or what? He will win his third WDC
without having ever lost a previous WDC!

You are going to look bloody stupid if Vettel does not win this year's
championship.

One feels that you should very seriously consider waiting until Vettel
has actually won the 2012 WDC before spouting.

Cheers

Why does 2009 not count as a loss for Vettel? He finished second, 11
points behind Button. Perhaps because he never led the WDC table in
2009, BUT Fangio didn't lead it in 1953 either, and by that measure he
therefore won five in succession.

Oh look! Stewart never led in 1968, and led for one event (the first in
1972, they shouldn't count either.

Senna only led for two events in 1989 - events 3 and 4.

Piquet only led for two events in 1986 - events 1 and 3.

In 2009 when Button won the WDC, he relaxed and let Barrichello and
the other drivers win races.

2009 does not count as a WDC lost by Vettel, since Button won early
the WDC and relaxed for the rest of the season.

Similar to Schumacher in 2001.

Brazil, in October wasn't early.

In 2009, Vettel was placed either 3rd or 2nd behind Button from round
3 (China) to the end of the season (except for after the European GP).
With two races left Vettel was only 14 points behind (20 points available).

Button won four races in a row in 2009.

Bahrain 26/04/2009 Jenson Button Brawn-Mercedes 57 1:31:48.182
Spain 10/05/2009 Jenson Button Brawn-Mercedes 66 1:37:19.202
Monaco 24/05/2009 Jenson Button Brawn-Mercedes 78 1:40:44.282
Turkey 07/06/2009 Jenson Button Brawn-Mercedes 58 1:26:24.848

Only dominating cars have allowed drivers to win 4 races in a row in
F1 history.

Only drivers with dominating cars have won 4 races in a row during a
F1 season.

Every single time a driver won 4 races in a row during a F1 season,
that driver ALWAYS WON THE WDC THAT SEASON. ALWAYS.

After Button won those 4 races in a row it was a given that he would
win the WDC, like all the drivers that won 4 races in a row during a
F1 season.

Vettel will become 3xWDC at the age of 25 this year and there is no
reason to believe, with another ten years or so ahead of him, that he
won't be in a position to beat all of Schumacher's records. Destroy
those records, actually. After all, in 3-4 years time Alonso will
probably retire, Hamilton has likely crippled himself for the next 3-4
years by joining Mercedes and at the moment there are no other drivers
in that calibre.

Vettel will be the F1 GOAT.

Pretty much the same in 2010, he didn't lead until the season was
over.

However, he did LOSE in 2009, at the Brazilian GP, in October. Or
for the whole season, in fact, he was a LOSER.

Come to think of it he was a LOSER in 2008 as well. He won a race,
for Toro Rosso, so he must have been in contention, mustn't he?

It seems that drivers cannot lose unless their car isn't very good.
I have to say I'm totally shocked at this revelation! Who would have
thought it? Amazing!
