A while back, someone posted a Monaco GP poster from 1937 on
alt.binaries.pictures.vehicles. I'd like to add one from '93. If you
recall, Senna won this race after Prost was penalized for a rolling
start. Needless to say, it was Senna's last victory in Monaco.

I'm thankfull to have seen Senna's last run in the beautiful city of
Monte Carlo. I've never posted a pict before, but I wanted to contribute
something to all the great F1 fans here on the internet who, like myself,
suffered the passing of a great man...

We'll never forget the '94 season.

Will you PLEASE read the other newsitems before you decide to post a
picture? If you know that binaries are posted in
rec.autos.sport.pictures then why not post it there andput a pointer
here saying that you've posted it.

I know you're only doing us a favour by posting binaries, and I am sure
that most of us here appreciate the effort, but could you please post
them in the proper newsgroup?

Please, please, please. Do not post binaries to r.a.s.f1.
There are two main reasons for asking you not to do this.

1) Many people pay by the byte to read newsgroups. Normally,
those people cannot select anything smaller than an entire newsgroup
(i.e., no selection capability for individual messages). If those
people wanted binaries, then they would subscribe to binaries
newsgroups.

2) Taking the notion of people paying for news one step further,
the rationale for having binaries newsgroups is so that sys-admins
can select out such groups if they cannot afford them. If people
start posting binaries to non-binaries newgroups in the rec.*
hierarchy, then we start down the slippery slope which ends up with
*your* sys-admin saying "bugger this, I'll just drop those expensive
rec groups."

And the "one post won't hurt" argument does not hold water either.
Everyone could say this, and before you know it you're inundated
with binaries.

There are any number of alternatives. Here are just a few

A) Post to a binaries image newsgroup.

B) Invite people who want the poster to send you their
email addresses before a certain date, then bulk
email your image to them all at once.

C) Put your image on an ftp site. There are many ftp sites
that accept images. Then tell people where they can get
the image.

C1) If you really cannot find an ftp site, then I'll volunteer
temporary space on mine to anyone who wants to send their
image to the world.
