Just a straw poll. I'd like to get an idea of what people think of
various aspects of the season so far. For discussion, of course :-)

Race Malesia (sorry, I'm a Ferrari fan :p)
Driver? Actually quite hard. Alonso really is fighting hard in, well,
a tractor... but I'm not sure that qualifies him as "of the season so
far". none, would be my judgement. Webber's had impressive continuity.
Starter: Ferrari. The car is a piece of junk in almost everything
else, but boy does it start. Even Massa flies off the start line in
that car.
Rookie: Yeah Grosjean, not really seen enough yet though.
Car: Lotus is surprising, sure. Toro Rosso sends good signals. So does
Sauber. McLaren has potential, but has shot some blanks.
Dis: Well here it HAS to be Ferrari. Going backwards is bad, jumping
head first blindfolded backwards is moronic. Last year they had
trouble, this year they simply screwed up.

Pity there's not a more general category for things that the voter
deems positive.

To me the best thing about this season so far have been the
exhibitions of driving skill that we've seen. Already there's been
several examples of tough but fair and very well judged wheel-to-wheel
racing, and some fab overtaking moves. This year I can really believe
that these guys are the best racing drivers on the planet.

I agree with all of that, though I'd pick Malaysia as for me it was the most exciting in recent years, the combination of the conditions and the unpredictability. China was pretty special too, though softened by the lack of contest at the front.

I'm contesting your Grosjean as a rookie as he was around in 2009 for 7
races.

Cheers

Yes, you're right. Although in so far as it's only his first full
season, I personally still think of him a rookie. I know it's not the
proper definition, but it feels right to me.
