I have a legal copy of Indycar but I am sick of looking up in the manual the page
line number and word. Anyone know how to get past this?

Thanks

Yes, there are "cracks" available on a few ftp sites but the best way would
be to purchase "Universal NeverLock" this program will remove the need for
manuals and code wheels for over 500 games. IndyCar, F1GP both work great.

OK, guys, you sound trustworthy enough - guess I'll help out here if ya
promise not to get Papyrus on my case. ;-) Pleez don't use this to make
illegal copies of the game...

Get a hex editor (like that Norton Utilities one - or, if you have a Linux
machine, emacs has a hex-edit mode (Type Esc-x-hexl-mode I believe...)).

Then, search for the following hex string:
75 13 BF 01 00

Change it to:
90 13 BF 01 00

Voila - no more looking up passwords - put that manual in the closet for
good. :-)

Hi.

I would be very interested in those "cracks." I have a legal copy of ICR
and also find that "copy protection" mechanism very annoying.

Does anyone know which ftp sites those cracks are available?

If you buy either the track pack or the Indy 500 you'll get the updated
version of INDYCAR.EXE which prompts the user for the code words, but can
be bypassed by simply pressing return. I believe the updated .EXE file is
available at FTP://didnt.doit.wisc.edu

I keep hearing that, but it wasn't true in my case. I tried versions
of indycar.exe that came with the addon tracks, the indy 500 expansion,
and the versions from the ftp sites, and none had this behavior.

Right - same deal here. Maybe that is only true with the UK version or
something? Anyway, it's not a big deal - it's easy enough to hex-edit
the Indycar .exe file to avoid the password protection anyway.

Change hex string (75 13 BF 01 00) to (90 13 BF 01 00) .
Don't use this to make illegal copies of the game!- Enrique

You can purchase Universal Neverlock for about $30. It unlock IndyCar, F1 and
about 500 other games.

It is NOT available at didnt.doit.wisc.edu - I am sure i would get
into VERY deep legal shit if I did provide that file online. If
Papyrus doesn't have in their site, I would be damn stupid to
put their copyrighted software up for ftp - even if the exe alone
doesn't comprise the game; we all know what lawyers can do to
you...

Look elsewere - tons of sites on the ne that have cracks (ftp.uwp.edu
for example) and pointers at how to do it in binary editors.
