Interactive entertainment and Midas released a
demo version of their next *sim* , Super 1 karting.
Get it at:
http://www.gamesarena.com/karting/index2.html
My questions are:
1- What do you think?
2- For those of you who already raced these
little machines, how realistic it is? I found it easy to make
rather good times and to winraces, so I doubt
of its sense of realism...
BTW, sure there are flaws: AIs are sooo slow in
corners, not only because of their choice of gearing, but
even in the braking zone. as well, one can
easily (too easily) punt an opponent to catch its position. Finaly,
there would be a good job to be done on replays
(with changing camera views), since they barely help us to
improve ourselves...
Otherwise, it could be rapidly addictive!

Before you buy.
Incidentally, i had mailed an old friend who runs a rather large indie
software mail order/net site and they've not even aware it existed. Midas may
have it ready to ship on the 17thm but fucks knows where you'll be able to buy
it.

Hope this answer your question.

IMO, it's a nice game but as a karting simulation feels totally unrealistic.
I haven't raced the more powerful Karts (only up to 19 hp) but the steering
in the demo is way to slow and unresponsive and the deadzone is huge. Also
you can't use split axis, but that's what karting at a competitive level is
all about. The braking and accelleration physics don't feel right either.
