My one problem with it is in regards to the track management side of
things. My understanding of the way it worked was that it would enable
me to add any extra track into the sim in place of any of the older
tracks. As an example I downloaded the Indy 2000 track and added it
via GPxPatch to slot 9 or 10 of the track section. The sim loads but
when I attempt to go to the track I get a CTD straight away.
It appears that I can only add it to the 3rd track slot (Argentina).
Anyone else managed to add tracks into whatever slot they want or is
this just not possible??
Maybe it's the Indy version I have so if anyone can point me to an
alternative to the one at Alpha F1 please let me know
TIA
PH
From my experience of editing tracks (Imola and Sepang) the track .dat file
itself actually contains the slot number too. I have successfully moved
tracks to other slots after editing through the track editor but some tracks
don't like certain slots. GPxPatch also uses something called CMagic data,
which takes/ignores track data from the GP3.exe and inserts/reads it from
the track.dat file itself. Is this Indy 2000 version compatible with CMagic
Data? (i.e. has the data been inserted into the track file?) If not then
it's quite easy to do it yourself using the CMagic program.
I will be editing Indy myself soon for my league - (making a hardware and
software version). We will probably use track 3 (Argentina) as it is one of
the tracks that isn't in the current season. Is there any reason why you
want Indy in the 9th or 10th position? Championship reasons?

Hi Darren,
Not sure about whether the track is CMagic compatible, will give it a
go shortly and get back to you.
The only reason I really wanted the track in the 9th or 10th slot was
because that's where I wanted it in the championship.
Will your Indy be freely available??
Thanks for the info, I'll let you know how I get on with CMagic.

Well, I got CMagic and although it seemed to work with the Indy track
I still had the same problem when trying to use the track anywhere
other than slot 3.
Cheers

As for the one I'm working on. It will be some one else's work, I will just
make it compatible for my league by adding software textures for the
software version, AI tweaking and maybe some bump adjustments as well as
adding the CMagic data for GPxPatch.
Good luck - I'll let you know if I get it working in slot 9 or 10.

Right I'll try that... maybe in the morning now though...
I'm using the Indy track from the Alpha F1 site (www.alphaf1.com/gp3)
created by Matti Laitinen.
Thanks for the help... as before I'll let you know once I've tried
what you suggested.

Darren,
I've been looking through the track data in GP3TrackEditor and the
only thing I could find which looked like it was linked to the track
slot was an entry under 'Track Config','Track Sections' which had a
section 'Unknown Number ?=3'. As the slot the track worked in was slot
3 I took a guess that this could be it and changed it to 10.
VIOLA!!! it worked :O) I can now just change that number and race Indy
wherever in the calendar I want.
Many thanks for your help... I certainly wouldn't have found the
solution without it.

Peter
