Hi peeps, bit late to the GPL 65 Mod here, but I'm having trouble getting
it working.

I have d/l'd the latest Gem and Igor programs (and the patch) from the
http://55and65.speedgeezers.com/gpl65/ website.

I have created a new GPL install especially for the 65 Mod (my existing
GPL installation works fine, and I didn't want to muck it up). The new GPL
install included the "all in one" patch and the install appears to work
fine. (NB, the only other thing I installed is the Carsound patch)

This new GPL install is in a different location to the existing one, and I
have tried to apply the 65 mod to this new GPL install.

The two programs (Gem and Igor) appeared to install ok with no error
messages. (I applied the patch to the Gem program, it is now v2.2.16)

However, When I run Igor it says it cannot open the gplmods.ini file, but
still starts the program ok and I can post messages on the Igor forum ok,
but I cannot race on-line as the Join button is greyed out.

If I attempt to start the Gem program I get an error message which says
there is a "system error and the service did not respond to the start or
control request".

I am using win xp home (with all latest ms updates), which otherwise runs
fine with no probs. I also have McAfee anti virus and firewall running.
(But I can usually race GPL on-line (via VROC) fine.

The pc is an asus a7n8x m/b with 512mb pc2700 ram and a 240GB h/d, and I
have directx9 installed ok and use a Radeon 9600 pro grx card.

I am running lots of other sims on this pc which all work fine (TOCA Race
Car Driver 2, Colin McRae 4, F1 2002 & the GTR racing mod, etc).

Does anyone have any ideas how to cure this problem?

Thanx.....

I am not positive, but I noticed last week that the Vrock channel "topic"
message read that the GEM was down, maybe this was fixed by the weekend...

I think that this is usually due to GEM+2 being installed in an odd
directory. Can you post the full path to GEM+2? It should be
something like c:\program files\GPL secrets\GEM - going from memory.
