Anybody ever hook up the MSD 6AL box to a Unilite? I'm running a Unilite
in my GTO 400 cube, periodically I have the urge to buy a MSD setup and
add it on. But the Unilite runs grrr-8 and I'd had to add any weird
wiring! If anyine has done this please fill me in--Thanks to all--Ray

The MSD 6AL instructions cover the Unilite setup. It's very simple. The
green wire from the Unilite becomes the trigger wire for the MSD. The
rest of the wiring is all for the MSD.
I am doing this exact installation right now!
BTW, the MSD instructions are extremely complete, some of the best I have
seen.
I have bought a lot of parts for this Nova project, and it's amazing how
poor some mfr's are at doing instructions. If they give you any at all. I
wonder if some of them ever install their own stuff!

The MSD kit comes with instructions for installation with that
distributer. I don't think the wiring changes much at all.

Thanks,

Hmmm, ignition system works 'grrr-8' and you want to f--- with it - of
course if your wallet is $140 lighter the car should run a little faster
(less weight to move around).

An MSD will improve idle characteristics - esp on cars with mixture
distribution problems - like long duration cams. It will do nothing at
high rpm (above something like 4000rpm it single spark again). Haven't
hooked one to a unilite. but I have hooked up one via magnetic trigger
distributer and I've hooked one to standard points. The MSD 6 has
hookups for both. Contact MSD directly for requirements.

While we're talking about Mallory and MSD ignition systems, anybody have
any comparision info on how the MSD 6AL box compares to a Mallory HyFire
IV box? AFAIK, they're both CD systems with rev limiters. The MSD box
does multiple sparks; does the Mallory system also?
