Trace the lines down. I haven't had to do much with the brake system
on our '87, but presumably the lines go straight down. You may have
to take the front grille off, but then if that's where the leak is, it
wouldn't drip on the driver's side floor.

Like someone else said... pop off the instrument/cover to gain
access to your reservoir and master cylinder. You might have to take the
instrument cluster off completely... don't forget to
disconnect/reconnect the speedo cable.
If your Van has a standard transmission... it is more likely that
your clutch master cylinder is leaking.... access is gained from under
the pedal cluster. 2 mounting bolts, one hydraulic fitting and one fluid
feed line (push on).
The clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder (at tranny) have a
tendency to leak before the brake master cylinder.

I have an 85 Vanagon and brake fluid is leaking out from under the dash
onto the drivers side floor. It is a slow leak but I can't seem to get
to anything to fix the leak. Is there some access panel or something
I'm missing to get to all the brake fixtures behind the dash? Any help
would be appreaciated.
Your master cyl is leaking. Its fun to replace. The reservoir is in front
of the speedometer(the cover snaps off), and the cyl is above the brake
pedal, follow the fluid.
