R12 Freon Info

I was reading some old Q's about the sale and manufacture of freon. I
went to Mexico yesterday and bought several cans of R12 for $9 each.
DUPONT does still manufacture and sell R12 in Mexico. I am going back
this weekend and I will let everyone know if I have any extra. Let me
know if you can use some. No promises though!

yes.. the situation with the banning of R-12 is that underdeveloped
countries can still use it.. it would be an "economic hardship" to make
them stop using it. I guess the hole in the ozone layer will stay above
that country, right? Only the industrialized countries have to stop using
it. Dupont (in NJ I think) is still running three shifts making the stuff
for export.

Bringing it into the US is a smuggling offense. I know that people have
already been busted for doing it. Nothing on the small level you are
currently doing.. but the penalties are severe. Just don't get caught.
