Live long and prosper!
It means "Do Drugs"?!?!?
Yo man... PEACE! PEACE, man!!!
Now put one of those on your car and see what happens. I'm thinking
about just putting a Mercedes Benz emblem on my car. That will make a
few of them other drivers wonder "what the F&%$".

Are all you guys from the 1980s or something?
Peace sign means Peace,
not Do Drugs.
It's bad enough the Happy Face (I'm tired of it btw) now works
for WalMart.

The Wal-Mart yellow smiley face should be one of the most offensive things to
any one in the union brother(sister)hood!! The are one of the most radically
anti-union work places in NorthAmerica, which makes working conditions worse for
all of us!!
Just getting that off my chest, Terry
Maybe someone can explain the meaning behind the Mercedes Benz
emblem...It doesn't remind me of an "M" or a "B". Looks like a broken
peace sign if you ask me.
What about the Chevy Bow Tie? You telling me all the workers wore bow
ties to work or did you get a free tie with the purchase of a car or
truck? At least the VW and Audi symbols mean something (what you don't
know what the 4 interlocking circles stand for?). They created the
first Olympic pace car! OK: The union of 4 auto manufacturers (Audi,
Horch, DKW and Wanderer Automobile Department).
Lon
Yep. The butchers unionized in that one store and now Wal-mart is eliminating
them in all their stores.
Is is any worse than pro- or anti-abortion bumper stickers? or Clinton
campaign bumper stickers? NRA, Jesus Saves, or the classic "You
Breed 'em, You Feed 'em" ?
Peace is peace, man.
As far as the signs, well, it doesn't bother me none but you'll *never*
see one on my car. And I will roll my eyes at the dorks that do have
them. But no rage. I'm peaceful. I saw the sign.

I am told that the three points of the MB symbol signify the 3 armed
services, since Diamler-Benz was a major supplier to all branches of
German armed forces...or so I am told.

The "bow tie" is actually sort of a panoramic view of the Swiss flag,
since Louis Chevrolet was from Switzerland.

Now that IS offensive! WalMart sells crap and tramples the Independent
Business Man by tricking consumers into buying crap. ;)
Dove foot print....
Actually, I lean more towards putting a gunsight on the front...

Wal-Mart is not perfect -- Unlike what the stupid WM ads want you to believe.
WM, as I understand, is now lobbying hard for an Internet sales tax - in order
to protect the traditional WM stores.
Go to Target, or even better depending on where you live, go to such regional
places as Fred Meyer (Which has many Unionized Grocery Departments), etc...
Just "No" to Wally World!

It would make me wonder...why you aren't driving a honda.
Maybe you could get lots of big stickers with japanese writing too.
HP?, any pics?

Years ago, when I raced dirt bikes, I removed EVERY logo from my bike, and
all of my gear. Why? A: to separate myself from the other wanna-be kooks,
and B: to avoid advertising other peoples products. I received
many-a-compliment from other riders.
I have absolutely no desire to make any kind of statement, through brand
ownership, bumper stickers, particular products, looks, style, etc. I am
QUITE happy about who *I* am, and don't need to let the world know about it.
Somebody may look at my car, look at me, and make a judgement about what
kind of person I am. Well, that's fine. The difference is that I KNOW who I
am, and they THINK they know who I am.
Just spouting off here...
My ride was an 1993 Raleigh Peak. Back when Tomac rode for them was
certainly their best years. It was a very VERY descent ride. I've
ridden custom Brews, Voodoos and Salsas that didn't ride this nice.
Easton E9 tubing bonded to cast aluminum lugs with a Tange cromoly rear
triangle. It was light, stiff and the geometry was perfect for me
because I am the same height and size as Tomac (not us muscular, though
:( ....) and the frame was based on his geometry.
I stripped all of the stickers off of the frame and repainted it flat
black.
The next year I was off to Tampa and no longer working in a bike shop.
My friend and I walked into the bike shop at USF to buy an inner tube,
where there were these two yuppies with their Cannonballs sitting at a
table. They looked over at us and one got up and started checking out
my bike. I suppose it looks neat with it's undersized aluminum tubing
(completely opposite of a Cannonball), cast lugs with cable stops and
wishbone rear seat stay. He asked "what kind of bike is that?!?" I
actually was thinking about saying it was "custom" or something like
that. I said, "It's a Raleigh". As soon as I said that, he goes, "Oh."
like I just ran over his mother with a steam roller and he walked away
with a look on his face that could only have been duplicated by shooting
his cat dead with a cannon. What a jerk.
What was REALLY funny was that the guy behind me had THE SAME BIKE in
the same size frame, only one year newer. The reason why they didn't
approach him at all is because his was still in "factory condition" and
had "Raleigh" in big white letter across the red anodized down tube. If
anything, I though his was cooler because he had a Manitou fork and mine
only had a ProForx, but alas... his "said" Raleigh.
Name brandism sucks.

Stuff like motor oil, laundry soap and such... fine.
But most of their stuff (paint, bikes, clothes, etc) are VERY cheap
quality considering what you pay. Sure you pay less, but that's what
you get and you get what you pay for.
And, prices aren't that good on items like snack items (impulse items).
NEVER go to Wal Mart hungry and NEVER buy a bag of chips there!
And, service?????? When was the last time you talked to someone at Wal
Mart that wasn't a complete Zombie except for that guy at the gun
cabinet helping the other rednecks with their bait choices???
Wal Mart is suck.
Sams club has good beer prices, though. Don't need service to pick
beer. 12 pack of Warsteiner for $6.99!
Maybe I should have said there is no service. That is why I like it. I
walk in, get what I want, the zombies systematically shuffle us out. Quick
easy efficient.
And they have the smiley face, how could you hate a store with the smiley
face?
James
The only chrome (or what's left of it) on my still-stock VW is the
logo/emblem. I am wanting to get new ones so that they will stand out.
I am proud of what I drive and don't think that removing the emblem is a
positive move towards showing that. In fact, up until recently, VW had
less paid advertisement on most of the media here in the US so why would
a few emblems on your car cause you any grief?
At least our cars are not covered on every corner of the body with some
reminder of who built it like many of the american and japanese cars
these days. Nowhere on my car can you easily see the words Volkswagen
(except on the wheels, which are usually rotating anyway). They chose
to only use the logo to distinguish its roots of origin and I find that
rather tasteful.
BTW: Unless some of you did not follow the original post and the
subsequent replies, the original poster was offering a replacement for
the logo on the grill. The words came up at one point that VW-pride and
a personal statement of this PRIDE is being voiced by personalizing
their ride. My take on this was and still is, if you are proud of it
and want to personalize it why would you remove the emblems? Most of
the debadging I see these days are on rice-burners (that want you to
believe their car is something it is not) and I don't care to put my car
in that league at all. But then again, a huge VW emblem in my back
window is on the opposite end of the spectrum and won't appear on my car
either...
