This is a problem with some of the Corrado G60s. I don't have the
problem, but the solution is to cut a wire that goes to the ECU.

Look on http://www.corrado-club.com and join the Corrado-L list and try
asking there. I know people will be able to help you out there. It
might be in some VW FAQs, (http://alicudi.usc.edu/~jan/cars.html) but
the Corrado-L list is the quickest way to get a response.

Good luck,

Have you checked your risidual fuel pressure???? Read the Bently to see
what it is exactly. Also your fuel pump relay (fuel pump afterrun realy
actually). If you don't have any risidual pressure, you'll try and start
it but because it doesn't have enough pressure, it wont run right and die.
Then, when you try and start it again, it probably has adequate pressure to
give the correct amount of fuel to the motor. This could be it, might be
something else but it wouldn't hurt to put a pressure guage on it to see
just in case. Good luck!

Don't do that.. Man.. I finally have something good to say.. I had the
same exact problem when I bought my '90 G60 last year. It was slow to
start cold and when it does, it either stalls or barely kicks over.. The
dealer thought the cold start valve wasn't working.. wrong.. I
eventually found out what was wrong while testing out my new P-flo
installion.. bam.. the car died... the fuel pump.. it is faulty and when
replaced, it is a newer, better design with senders... I had to pay for
it, but I heard from another Corrado owner that his was replaced free
under recall, so find out from your local dealer. I know for sure that
one of the fuel lines is under recall and should be replaced. But, you
better go to you nearest mechanic soon so you don't find yourself
stranded like I was on Christmas day :( (only 1 mile from my house
though).

Actually, yes, some people SHOULD do that. It is even in the VW service
bulletin index (I have the '96 October version, page 14, VSP Order No.
V24-91-01, 1990 Corrado G60s only). The solution is (if you have the
problem stated and it really IS the ECU) you can either contact the CCA
and read the FAQ on it (somewhere on Jan's FAQ page) or VW could do it.
Also, you could of tried a new fuel pump relay. I know on the '84
Quantum, it's fuel pump relay doesn't start building fuel pressure until
the car is in the start position. The newer VWs build presure in the ON
position. Just because something sounds destructive, doesn't always
mean it's bad.
