Using M2, Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/m2/
When I turn the key to the 'start' position, I have to really jiggle it and
apply pressure in different directions to get it to actually start the car.
While I'm doing this, there is a buzzing that seems to come from the
relay/fuse box. Sometimes I can start the car easily, sometimes I'm
sitting there for several minutes. I already disasembled the steering
wheel, hoping to replace the ignition switch, but when I got to it, the
whole key barrel and ignition switch seemed to be one piece, and I had no
idea how to remove it. The Bentley manual seemed to say that to remove the
switch, I should remove the barrel first, and to remove the barrel, remove
the switch first! Anyways, there were no bolts or screws visible, so I
gave up and put it all back together.
Has anyone seen this before or have a solution? I've considered trying to
analyze the wiring diagrams and go to a 'push button' start.
The problem is compounded by the fact that it sometimes takes around 10
seconds to start the car.
Thanks!
Edward

In fact, the original Beetle convertible was a Karmann Kabriolet, so named
because it was built at the Karmann factory. Cabriolet is part of the
European nomenclature, as is saloon, limousine, etc.

If you want to get historical, that's also where the term "cab" comes from.
The original Cabriolets were horsedrawn buggies hired out for transport.

Except on the badge on the car where the "K" is used as the first letter of
both "Karmann" and "Kabriolet".
