I'm beginning to plan a turbo install on my 240,000kilometer 1.8L Digifant
II GTI engine.

I would like to know the differences between a 1.8L G60 Engine from a
Corrado G60 and my 1.8L GTI Engine that I have now.

I know that my engine has a 10:1 compression ratio, the corrado 8.5:1

Both engines have the same valve size but the Corrado has Sodium filled
valves.

Are there any oil squirters for the pistons squirts on the Corrado engine?
What else is different between the 2 blocks/heads?

I'm asking because I'm still not sure if I should rebuild my GTI engine with
lower compression pistons from a G60 or get an entire block from a Corrado.
I want to build this thing to be very reliable and have alot fun driving it.

Thanks for your help,

David, the differences in the G60 1.8L are as follows:

€ 8.0:1 compression
€ heat-treated cylinder head
€ sodium-cooled valves
€ oil squirters
€ copper head gasket (I think...)
€ forged crank
€ some sorces report cast pistons, not forged but are redesigned with thicker
wrist pins

The G60's 1.8L is great, some have reported boost pressures as high as 21psi
without mods. I'd stay below 18psi just for reliability reasons unless you
upgrade it. Stock, the G60's engine runs between 8.9-11psi of boost from VW.
Many G60 owners go with a smaller pulley (68mm) and get 14-17psi without any
engine problems. One note that isn't common to G60 1.8L (engine code PG)
engines is rod bearing rattle from 2-3krpm. See:
