Chrome Windscreen Wipers?

Hi!

Does anybody know where I could get a pair of original-style chrome or
stainless steel windscreen wipers for my 1966 Beetle? At the moment I
have modern black ones fitted, and they look a bit odd and out of
keeping with the rest of the car. I have looked everywhere, but with
no luck - everyone seems to sell black ones and the chrome ones I have
seen don't fit VW's...
Any ideas?

Hello Howard.

Ok.... don't hit me, but have you considered silver spray paint? I don't
think VWs came with chromed wiper arms anyway.... I have seen silver on
Ovals and the pre-67s, but never chromed.

If you must have them chrome, take them down to a chrome-plating shop,
from what I hear are prices in Singapore, it should kill ya.... about £15?
Don't quote me on that though.... :-)

Hi Alvin,
It's not the wiper arms I want to be chrome - it's the wiper-blade
arm! You know, the bit with the rubber thing on that cleans your
screen! I know - very confusing!
I have had no luck - most ones I find are for 'common' British cars
(Usually Austins) and don't fit my VW. They *definately* should have
them, as the owner's manual had a nice picture...

Hello Howard,

Are you wipers from Bosch or SWF? What size? 10" or 11"? I have seen some
silver, but not chromed wiper-blade-arms at FLAPS here. Man... that was a
mouthful! :-)

I'll check with I'm down later this week, ok? I'm quite sure they are silver,
not chromed. Though as with the wiper arms, you can remove the blade and get
the wiper-blade-arms chromed.
