OH-MAN !That carburetor is 70"s vintage.
I run the bug spray 300 cfm in the early 70s
with poor results. When running the holley bug
spray carb(200/300 cfm] it is recommended
that you use a isolated-runner manifold verses
a plenum type.You can"t use the stock
vacuum advance distributor because their
is no vacuum ports. You will need to use a
mechanical-advance type such as the 009
and a good header system. If the holley bug
spray produces a bad flat spot off idle. You
will be required to open-up the idle feed
restriction jets.(enrich the fuel mixture) If you
are looking to gain a little performance. You
might want to think about the weber/holley
progressive two barrel. Due to the parts availability. To answer your
question -Haynes
publishing sells a manual on HOLLEY CARB

I don't know why people cannot seem to get the holley to work. I ran
one for several years (mid-late 80s) with no problems. I had a
dual-port 1641 with a mild cam, isolated-runner manifold, 009, and
header w/single quiet pack. No flat spot, either.
Ran great, decent power, and 30+ mpg!
That was the best engine I ever had. I used it in my '66 and '68 bugs.

I had really great performance with my
bug spray on a single port 1600 with
mild porting on the heads and a stock
exhaust with flared tips. I ran a 009,
and used the ram induction type manifold
(non plenum type). If your carb is used,
when you get a diagram for it, look for
a small check valve ( I think it's at the
bottom of the float chamber). I think it's
like the one in the stock Solex carbs. The
little ball inside has to be clean and free.
I took my carb apart and gave it to a guy
to clean, and he pointed it out to me.
I didn't even see it, and he said he had to
remove the ball to clean it, and that it was
a "little tricky to do". It sounded important
at the time, so I thought I'd pass it on.
