Dear Saturn Folks,
Happy New Year!!
I am continuing enjoying my SL2 which has been flawless except for
the 1QT/1k oil consumption rate which is due for another measurement at
the dealer in just say.. aprox 300 miles. Then its 1000 more miles and I
hope I will be done with the consumption test and hopefully they will
agree to fix the engine which has a mere 3300 miles on it.
Oh well. Saturn took another casualty at work. I told you this would
happen. I am talking open and honestly about my car at work. And as you
know the majority of the people at work are health care professionals
who many times need second cars such as myself and buy them very
frequently. A friend of mine, who happens to be the supervisor of
microbiology at the hospital was in a war trying to figure out which to
buy for his wife... the 99 SC2 and the Corolla (Alex rejected the Mazda
and Honda already... ). Well guess what. The Toyota won. Why?
He remembered what Saturn has put me through with this oil problem. This
is the second sale they lost as a result of the publicity they created
at work.Maybe 3rd. Especially when they when they included the word
"tampered" in my case history that nullified the first oil consumption
test. My friends and family couldn't believe they used that wording.
Waiting to fix the car is not a solution and is costing us all
aggravation. Ultimately the lemon law has given me the go ahead to put
Saturn on notice... but it is a timely process and is not warranted yet.

Well that's the update. The car continues to be reliable but continues
to be unfixed. Yeah I know your tired of hearing my problems...
I installed the front cover..looks great...
Again.. Happy New Year!!!

Sincerely Irwin S Cohen

Although its ashame that Saturn lost a customer because of your situation , who
could blame them for not wanting one after your personal experience. But just
so you are aware ( as I am sure you are) not all Saturns dealers are the same ,
some suck others don't.

Not tired of the problem , just anxious for the solution :)

>I installed the front cover..looks great...

They will probrably consider that tampering now...

Not tired at all. I appreciate the honesty and effort, and am interested
to see if they make right by you. In CA, Saturn had one of the best lemon
law records, so maybe there is hope they will fix it before arbitration.

Thanks also for not making unfair generalizations. So far, no oil
consumption on my '99 SL2 after 5 months. Good luck.

Regards,

Darren
