I'm looking for a commuter car
92-94 sl1 sl2 auto and
would like to know from your experiences
if this is a good used car to buy.
My budget is around $3500

Appreciate any info,

Mike

Hey Mike,

I own a 94 SL2 which I purchased used just a few short months ago...previous to
me buying the car it had been wrecked and repaired. I haven't had a bit of
trouble with my Saturn, as a matter of fact, at this point I wouldn't trade my
car for anything right now...I have quite a few family members who have also
purchased used Saturns and have always been satisfied with them...we all prefer
the SL2's to the SL1's but other than that we all love our Saturns.

Good Luck,
Lisa (94 Saturn SL2)

Hey Mike,

I just recently bought a 1993 SL2. I paid The car listed on the lot for $4900.
I ended up getting it for $3900. I was told I got a GREAT price on the car but,
what I didn't know was the car was in desperate need of repair. I've probably
sunk in excess of $2000. into the car already and I'm not quite done.

The moral of my story? I absolutly love the car! Buy one from a Saturn dealer
and not off a lot like I did. Their tough cars to work on and most mechs. don't
know word one about them. Saturn keeps a real tight reighn on parts so be
prepared to go back to the dealer when ever you have problems and be prepared
to pay dealer prices.

A final note: While I was having some work done on my car I spotted a 1993 SL2
at the dealership for sale for $6500. While that may seem high, it came with a
2 year bumper to bumper and was in MUCH better shape than mine.

Good Luck and happy hunting

Jack

Excellent advice. Many lots buy the cars dealers send to auction because they
cost to much to fix properly.

I bought mine off the lot and it's great.
I heard after that warranty problem cars or those without complete Saturn
service also go to other used lots. Anyone also hear of this?

Cars go to used car lots for many reasons. Dealers wholesale cars for many
reasons. One could be they have too much money into it to sell it on their own
lot. The car may need to much work to be Saturn certified and they don't want
it on the lot. It may just have too many miles.
