I'm about to replace the fuel filter on my '94 SL1 and was wondering where
it was located? I havn't had it in the air yet and I am assuming it's back
by the fuel tank. Is it a difficult job? Anything I should know?

Thanks in
advance

It's near the intake manifold. Get a Chiltons or Hayes manual on the
S/\TURN. It is very helpful.

The fuel filter is located just behind the driver's side wheel, under the
master cylinder. Be sure to bleed the pressure from the line b4 you disconnect
the filter. A few companies are now using plastic filters to replace the metal
one on the Saturn. I wouldn't do that. Use AC GF637, it fits perfectly with
virtually no tools needed. Good luck. Jay

Found that the filter was hard to reach either from above or below the car.
By pulling the left (drivers) tire and plastic splash guard I could easily
reach the filter on my 94 SL2.

I agree with Jay about the plastic filters. I just replaced mine with a FRAM
filter which is plastic and has the mount built right in to the filter,
so you have to remove the old mount to replace the filer. If I used
the AC GF637, it would have saved me a lot of time, since it would
slip right in to the existing mount.

Other than being annoying to install, do you think the FRAM plastic filter
should be replaced quicker than a metal one?

Easy to replace ... it's under the hood ... driver side. Grab a Haynes
manual when you go to get the filter.

Two things about your new filter

(1) get METAL not plastic

(2) make sure it comes with the little "tool" to release the catches inside
the connector.

Other than that, bleed the pressure from the fuel line (but your new Haynes
manual will tell you that)
