Back Window Replacement Horror Story

I don't recommend replacing the back window to anybody. I had it done
under warranty at the dealership. They put the OEM window in nicely,
but the zipper teeth didn't line up correctly. I put the roof down
all the time, and was adamant about unzipping and lowering the back
window each time I put the roof down too so as not to bend it too
much. In one month the zipper wore out and wouldn't hold a zip
anymore. So I took it back to the dealer. After an arguement, the
agreed to pay for it. I had an aftermarket zipper replacement sent
directly to them. After giving me the run-a-round a few days, they
finally put it in. Same problem, the zipper didn't line up correctly.
Instead of wearing out the zipper this time, I just leave the back
window zipped when lowering the roof. It has created a discoloration
where the bends are, but it's better then dealing with the dealer.
Now, I'm noticing some small holes in my roof. Looks like I'll have
to replace the whole roof anyway - and that's what I should have done
in the first place.

Over and out

BTW, if you ever want to get a dealership to do something that they
don't want to do, but you feel that they should, tell them you're
going to hang a sign from the back of your car that says
"name-of-dealer won't fix my car under warranty". It works every
single time. :)

I am a tech. at a Mazda dealer and I know how u feel. The only problem I
have is that too often people think that anything and everything needs to
be warranty. I don't know if anyone knows this but the warranty for one
year affects the price of the cars for the next year and so on. I'm not
saying that your complaint wasnt valid I'm just getting this off my chest.
One other thing, under warranty, a tech. gets paid less, most of the time,
to do a job than what the job actually takes to do and this is very
frustrating when you are trying to make a living. Sorry about the spelling
and grammar, after all I'm just the person working on your $30,000.00
dollar cars.
