Hi,
Can anyone recommend good replacement speakers/tweeters to put in a '99
miata. I want to upgrade the system w/o changing the stock cd player so
that I don't have to worry about attracting would be thieves. Thanks. Tina

I have Boston Acoustics, and I love 'em.

For the lower door speakers, I installed Pioneer TS-A5713 (TS-A5715)
speakers. They are a poly cone 5x7 direct replacement for the factory
speakers. 5713 are two ways and 5715 are three ways. Both fit without any
modifications. Mine sound good with the factory radio.

As far as tweeters go, they are mounted to a bracket and screwed directly to
the door panel. you have two choices, and they are both factory speakers,
unless you want to try to mount a aftermarket speaker to the factory
bracket. It doesn't look too easy to me. the speaker used in PEP and
higher packages w/o Bose is a pioneer tweeter, and of course, the Bose
package has a Bose speaker. Both can be purchased from Roebuck Mazda, but I
think the Bose are on backorder.
