I made a big boo-boo.

Last night the wifey and I were talking Jeeps, and I mentioned in passing
that the 07 Wrangler would be a redesign, with a 4-door version, with
seating for five. She seemed mildly interested.

So today I showed her the pics of it in the latest Four Wheeler; she loved
it. Now I might have to sell my TJ, because she doesn't want to get rid of
her TJL. :-(

I have to think long and hard about Yes Dear-ing this one. I bought some
time when I made the "you shouldn't buy a new design the first couple of
model years because of the bugs" speech.

If I have to sell the TJ, I will insist on a manual trans in the JK.

OK, not insist....more like beg.

Ok, Matt...you are FAR more reasonable than this...it's not a
husband/wife-boss/servant thing. The TJL would have to be the one to go
in trade on the 4dr. Leave the SWB TJ at the crib. There will be no
more....ever.

Actually teh TJ is slated to be handed down to the oldest when he gets his
DL, though he doesn't know it yet. So it will probably stay in the family.

If we have to get rid of something, it'll probably be the Superduty, we
don't use it much anymore since we added the Excursion to the fleet:

that didnt require giving up something of mine to suit her. anyway my point
was that if she wants one, have her trade her jeep for one. .......unless
you secretly like the new jeep more than youre telling us. ;-)

personally i havent ruled it out yet. i dont like some of what ive seen,
but im waiting to see one in person before i draw a conclusion.

Yeah, that's a tough call. You've got some nice vehicles. If you're
going to hand down the TJ, you'll start jonesing for another Jeep inside
6 mos., if you haven't already purchased one...but personally, I'd
always have to have a SWB one. The Excursion/F250 descision would be
easy for me. Keep the F250. :)

Actually on paper it doesn't look so bad, V6 notwithstanding.

As I stated in an earlier post, I'll probably sell the Superduty if we
decide to get one, but if we do it will be 08 model year at the earliest.

My whole original post was really a tongue-in-cheek statement on how far
"Yes, Dear" can be taken.

Well it will have first model year bugs, but after a couple of hundred hours
red faced screaming at service representatives, they will all be fixed.
Then you or you heirs will have the vehicle your wife wants. If she really
wants it, then accept the inevitable sacrifices and go for it.

Thing about the 250, it has just barely enough passenger room for the family
(3 kids, 2 dogs); we traded the wifey's minivan for the Explurgin' , so we
could have enough pass room and the towing capacity of the 250 in the same
vehicle. That and the 250 gets 12mpg, while the excursion gets 20.

need to get some older stuff, and an econo-car or two. Like this

Sure sound to me like someone that had no clue how to drive an
automatic.

All the automatics I have ever owned had this neat little feature called
a shift lever. When I used to use it, I would actually be able to slow
my vehicle down, especially handy on long mountain passes in the
Rockies. Even better for real slow if you own a Jeep that has a low
range. You can even get a 1st gear limiter for those.

But if you are so spooked you can't handle the thought of down shifting
an auto, well maybe you shouldn't be off road to start or tackle any of
them mountain passes. At least read up on the Darwin Awards so you know
what you are getting yourself into.... ;-)

You are too much man....

If you are smokin' out the freakin' brakes, you are in the wrong gear!

That works for 'both' an automatic and a standard.

If you hit the hill at 90 and now can't downshift without exploding

since youve gone to such great lengths of digging in the archives in a
pitiful attempt at discrediting me, i thought it might be fun to plug "earle
horton" into a search engine.

1- you had a one hit wonder year where you made $2 million.
certainly impressive

2- you take your new found money and you move into an uppity deed restricted
neighborhood. despite your one hit wonder year, you and everyone around you
knows that you dont belong there......youre sorta like the colorado
hillbilly. :-)
instead of honoring your legal obligation to keep your yard clean you choose
to be a "rebel" and show all of your neighbors that your individual rights
mean more than both their rights and the civil contract you signed when you
bought your house. your neighbors all join together and file a lawsuit
against you for ruining their property values by being a nasty
fucker.......this of course is no surprise considering you allow cats on the
same table you eat from.

2- instead of investing your money wisely, over the next few years you
squandered it in legal fees fighting your entire neighborhood.

3- out of money, you begin to scramble for a way to preserve the quality of
life that you got such a short taste of. to your surprise, microsoft and
any other large company wont touch you because through your "i can keep my
yard anyway i want to no matter what it does to my neighborhood" being
published in newspapers you had shown the world that you are an eccentric
FOOL. you sell your "i got money!" house and move to a less expensive
neighborhood where you hope to regroup and get back on your feet.

4- you scramble for a way to earn a good living. you proudly announce to
the world that youve gone to nursing school, along with your wife. bottom
line you just cant cut it in nursing school (congratulations to your wifey
however, who could!) so you drop out. now youre learning to be a
writer......lol......ill keep looking for your published work. ;-)

When the automatic was mentioned, I thought it was talking about Jeeps,
Not your total incompetence or your bid to win a Darwin Award.

Should have known better, not much refers to Jeeps in any thread
involving you.

You 'do' deserve an honorable mention in the Darwin Awards page Nathan.
Seriously. You almost took out yourself and at the same time your
offspring so the genetic line would have stopped.

You rent a truck, you overload it with everything you own, you find out
it has a bad engine and 'no' brakes and yet you and your kid go merrily
on your way across the country going way too fast and 'clinching your
asshole' down the grades. (legally you had no brakes if you can't stop
the truck in 1st gear, that also leads to going too fast for the
equipment too.)

There are no words to describe you. A sane person would have turned
back to the nearest town with a rental outlet and camped in their
parking lot until a replacement truck showed up.

I now know why I ignored your posts and like to call your BS. You are a
waste of bandwidth Nathan.

I live here

http://www.silvertoncolorado.com/

Whenever I need to take time off from my busy schedule of fighting
conspiracies and persecuting "regular folks", I walk out the door, fire up
my Jeep, and in five or ten minutes I am on an old mining road or Jeep
trail.

People can judge the merits of Nathan's insane ramble for themselves. I
suspect that many already have. I think that Mike has been too kind to him.

The Ambulance Association issue deserves comment. (Anyone else know what
"ambulatory" means? Heh, heh.) The Colorado State Nursing Board recently
sent us a letter, thanking us for reporting one of their licensees for
unprofessional conduct. Here are links to copies of the thank you note and
the disciplinary action.

http://earlehorton.tripod.com/nurse/letter.tif
http://earlehorton.tripod.com/nurse/finding.tif

This nurse had been using seriously injured patients for practice dummies,
without their consent, or that of any medical doctor. Or maybe he's just a
pervert. The Ambulance Association Board of Directors defended his actions,
solely because he was "one of their own". They continue to do so, despite
the Nursing Board Letter of Admonition, which has the force of state law.
Compared to other states, especially Nursing Compact states, Colorado is
relatively lenient towards nursing misconduct. For example, there is a
nurse in the next county, with multiple felony convictions on her record.

This is a small community, with an insular system of values. They deeply
resent it, that I reported their golden boy to the Nursing Board. They
wanted to handle the problem "in house". Their idea of handling things in
house, is to reward the person who does wrong, punish all the witnesses,
and have no one ever talk about what happened, outside of "executive
session".

Now the Medical Director is under investigation, by the Colorado Board of
Medical Examiners. We may lose our ambulance service because of it. If you
come to Silverton, and need emergency medical services, the medics may treat
you with more respect now, out of fear. If they don't, then the agency has
a documented record of abusing ambulance patients, and I hope that you sue
the pants off of them. If you come, you may want to leave a copy of this
email with your heirs.

Nate is a fine one to talk about conspiracy theory paranoia.

youre right earle....it isnt you buddy. your entire neighborhood who sued
you, your entire nursing school staff, and everyone at your volunteer
ambulance service were ALL the "bad guys". everywhere you go it seems,
everyone you meet conspires against you. its only coincidence that the only

lol.....more conspiracy against you. :-)

......if whatever happened is so bad, why is it that you cant find any
support on this issue from nurses in the nursing forums?

BOTTOM LINE --> you flunked out of nursing school so you look for fault in
other nurses who DID actually succeed. the links i provided in my last post
have nurses making that same statement. you volunteer to ride an ambulance
and use this as an opportunity to find fault in those nurses. you make a
big stink over nothing, and now you cant even volunteer anymore because
everyone knows exactly what youre all about now.. :-)

Comments on the link: Cops have "discretion" to issue a citation or not,
irrespective of civil liability, or "fault" for an accident. Despite what
the state patrol told you, they do make the initial decision to issue a
ticket or not. No ticket, just means the cop didn't think it was a case,
that could be made to stick in court. Given his presumed years of
experience and training, he is probably right. And unlike the people who
read this news group, he doesn't know how special you are. ;^)

If you have "tort-based" insurance, like we have in Colorado, then your
insurance companies will decide who is at fault, and who will pay, and there
is little you can do about it. If they can't agree who is going to pay, it
may go to a civil court judge, but this is rare. The insurance companies
have to get along with each other, after all.

Nice truck, but I expected bigger tires and more chrome stuff.

I sure would not buy the first year's production of any new, completely
redesigned vehicle. There are sure to be lots of bugs in the first year or
two.

Nathan, you probably still have time to factory order an '06 Rubi, just the
way you want it. I'm not sure, but the deadline for ordering '06's may be
just a few weeks from now, if that long. As often as you change vehicles, if
the wifey likes the redesigned Rubi better, you can always trade the '06 in
a couple of years for an '08 or '09. By '09 most all the bugs should be
worked out.

Initially, I wasn't going to do this, but I wanted to see what additional
lies Nathan would make up, now that he knows he is whipped, to try to regain
a shred of credibility. Please, since this is an "OT" thread, do not read
any more, without regulation Usenet flame protective gear in place.
----------------

Nathan made a number of mis-statements and outright lies in his last post
about me. He claims to know, for example, what is going on in Silverton,
CO, where he has never been, what goes on in nursing school, and to have
knowledge of something that happened in Fort Collins, CO, six years ago. By
his own argument "He wasn't there" so he doesn't have a clue, as to the real
events. Instead, he resorts to making stuff up, as he has done in
innumerable Usenet groups, being run off of some of them as a result.

Wrt the "ambulatory" service, Nathan states that I "cant even volunteer
anymore because everyone knows exactly what [I'm] all about now". The
"ambulatory" service is desperate for volunteers, and they don't care who.
When I got back from Spain two months ago, the Director of the "ambulatory"
service approached me, and asked me to renew my EMT certificate, so that I
could go on "ambulatory" runs for them. I told her that I couldn't, because
the Board of Directors, her employers, were crooked, and that I would not
work for dishonest people. She admitted that this was true. Nathan's
statement, that I can't volunteer anymore, is something plucked out of thin
air, like liberals trying to take away his Mustang.

I did not "flunk out" of nursing school. I quit after three semesters,
because I decided that it wasn't for me. Other people may thrive on the
diet of crap that they serve in nursing school, but it doesn't agree with
me. As a "self-proclaimed intellectual", I just couldn't take it. Nurses
in sci.med.nursing spread the rumor, that I had flunked out. Like Nathan,
they can't imagine, that everyone else, doesn't necessarily want to be like
them. They are just as vicious, as Mustang owners, Harley riders, and
Alaska residents, all of whom have found it necessary to drum Nathan out of
their news groups.

Nathan states that the "ambulatory" nurse, from the Letter of Admonition
that I posted on my web site, "helped patients who refused service". Sure
Nathan. That is why the Board of Nursing called him "reckless" and stated
that his behavior "could lead to serious adverse patient outcomes".
"Serious adverse patient outcomes" is a euphemism for "long term disability
or death". Now the nurse has a permanent, public black mark on his
professional record. Just like the threads in Google Groups with Nathan's
name all over them. Unlike Nathan, the nurse in question had the sense to
stop calling me "crazy" when he finally saw the wind blowing the other way.
When the dirt got up around his eyebrows, he realized the hole he was
digging himself into. Nathan never realizes, until it is too late.

Nathan wants to know, why I don't seek support, from the nursing forums, in
my "campaign" to rid the world of Silverton San Juan County "Ambulatory"
Association. The reason is that nurses are not normally trained or
qualified to serve on "ambulatories", and they don't, as a rule, know
anything about it. The "ambulatory" service's use of nurses, without
properly training or supervising them, is one of the causes of its present
difficulties. The nurses that they have now all have gotten EMT
certificates, after I pointed out the need for them.

Nathan states that the "entire neighborhood", where I used to live in Fort
Collins, sued me, and earlier that it was an "uppity deed restricted
neighborhood". Does this look like an "uppity deed restricted
neighborhood"?

http://earlehorton.tripod.com/garden.html

No, if course not. It is a typical OSB working class shanty town, of the
type that Nathan and my namesake on NBC live in. If the neighborhood had
sued me, there would be court papers in the Larimer County, CO district
court archives, describing the lawsuit in detail. They are not there,
because it just didn't happen. If Nathan figured out, from my web site,
that they sued me, then it must be, that he does not read very well. This
would explain the trouble that he has gotten into, on
rec.autos.makers.ford.mustang, alt.troll, alt.autos.camaro.firebird,
arschlecker.de, rec.motorcycles.harley, pinche.mx, alt.culture.alaska,
alt.autos.dodge.trucks, and putamadre.es, to name a few of his past flaming
grounds. Although he has never been to Alaska, he tried to pass himself
off, as an expert on what goes on there. This is, of course, what he is
trying to do here.

That's a perfect example of what I am talking about. I moved into a "less
exclusive" area, where there are no weed laws, where the majority of the
houses are made of real wood, and where welfare recipients rub elbows with
multi-millionaires. I hear now that the town of Fort Collins, like many
other Front Range cities, has become friendlier to natural gardeners,
because of the shortage of water that exists. Water is like petroleum
there. It seems that I was only ahead of my time. And Nathan is venturing
an opinion, on something he knows nothing about.

These cities have gotten themselves into a bind now, with the subdivisions
that have restrictive covenants. The cities' interest in saving water
conflicts with the subdivisions' regulations to have conventional green
lawns. The irony is that the cities made them adopt green lawn regulations
in the first place. Most of the subdivisions have covenants, where they can
only change their regulations, with seventy-five percent vote of homeowners.
The kind of people that live in Colorado, you can't even get seventy-five
percent to show up for a free barbecue. And after they have lived in the
subdivision for a year or so, they are all pissed at somebody else. Kind of
like Usenet, except that you can't escape.

Cool! We have our back yard like that, all wild plants and wild
flowers. Some neighbor complained and the inspector shut up fast when
he couldn't find one dandelion or 'noxious' plant while I pointed out
the neighbor's fields of dandelions... LOL!

the 2 door also has seating for 5, which overall makes it a smarter choice
for her. my hesitance to wait on the '07 has nothing to do with

lol NAME ONE! pfft......like everyone else ive left groups when i lost

decided that a harley would not be in my best interest (follow the

passenger, better access for those passengers, and considerable more cargo
area that might easily be stretched to a short pickup bed.

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a shuffling of Jeep models as they
now will have 4 four door models with similar wheelbases (4 dr Wrangler,
Liberty, Grand Cherokee, & Commander)

I an easily see the Grand Cherokee falling to the wayside... but then with

expendable.

What never ceases to amaze me is DC says 2WD models are 25% of Jeep sales!

Built in 1894, by the first mayor of Silverton. The family took all their
money back to Wisconsin, but a great grandson still writes to the town paper
now and then. Lots of my neighbors grow this stuff here, because the town

water lawns, and because it is real hard to make grass grow.

Funny, tourists love wild flowers--in someone else's town.

twice about taking my Wrangler now. The only "upgrade" was a couple of bags
of sand and an engine block in the bed. My "winch" was a two and a half ton
come along. I figure if you put a sand bag in the back of any of the 2wd
Jeep models, it would still be pretty good in snow where I live. Add a

Nathan, what you said was, "your entire neighborhood who sued you". This is
how you change things, to make it look like your argument is better than it
actually is. I have seen you do it in dozens of news groups, recorded for
posterity in Google Groups. Then someone figures out what you are doing,
and "like everyone else ive left groups when i lost interest in whatever the
group represented". Sure, you pretend to lose interest, after your
credibility is shot and no one wants to listen to you anymore.

I described a court case, or rather a number of them, between the City of
Fort Collins and me. There were like four of them, but my "entire
neighborhood" did not sue me, or anybody. They didn't have the nerve. In
fact, they tried to testify "confidentially" for the city, a concept that is
as un-American as liberals taking your Mustang. If you don't pay attention
to the details, which you never do, you don't get the story straight. That
is why the name Nathan Collier, in a dozen news groups, is like a fart at a
tea party, a loud one.

I whipped the Ambulatory Association's butt. Call them and find out for
yourself. 970-387-5887 Ask them if James Michael Bertch, RN, is still on
the active roster. They won't say "yes" or "no", even though it is a public
agency, with a statutory duty to make the membership list public. The
person on the other end might not even be able to talk at all, once you
mention "Mike's" name. If they say "Yes, Mike is on the roster", they are
afraid I will find out. If they say "No, Mike is not on the roster", they
are afraid Mike will find out.

Almost two years later, I still have a county sheriff and a county
commissioner crying about "hurt feelings", because I asked them to do their
jobs. At the same time, their EMS Director is stopping me on the street,
asking me to go back on duty. One thing I can't stand, is hypocrites. The
only reason I still like you, Nathan, is that I honestly believe, that you
don't know what you are doing. Bliss, what is that like?

Nursing discipline varies from state to state. New Mexico, our neighbor to
the south, revokes licenses for what Mike did. Colorado hands out warnings,
but they are almost as bad. When Mike applies for a job, he has to tell
them all about the letter, and why it is on his record. "I was a bad nurse,
but I am sorry now." He will choke before he says that.

Peace.

heh.....ok earle.....FINE. i was working off memory of statements you made

> Sure, you pretend to lose interest, after your

BULLshit earle. look at the dates as well as my last posts in those
particular newsgroups. i left the mustang newsgroup only after i sold my
mustang. ASK KATE. i left the alaska newsgroup only after we made the
decision to move to montana instead. it was fun poking the liberals there
with a stick, but if i had no interest in the group and continued to torment
i would become a legitimate troll, which i am not. i left the harley
newsgroup only after deciding against buying a harley.....i bought a yamaha
rhino instead and started a website around it. youre obviously obsessed
with trying to dig up some dirt on me, but you should at least try to
organize everything chronologically before speaking in ignorance.....else
youre doing exactly what you accuse me of doing.

lol.....and yet i have so captured the attention of the uber-intellectual
millionaire....just what does that say of you? :-)

i find it extremely ironic that you would make such a statement of me, after
reading the comments the nurses made/make about you in the nurse
forums/newsgroups. if youre going to bitch about my backyard earle, you
better clean yours first (......er, or should i say MOW it? ;-).

dig all you like earle......dig desperately like a rat trying to escape a
sinking ship. you will find nothing that everyone here doesnt already know
or hasnt already made up their minds about. am i controversial? yes, on
occassion. the difference is that i walk away from the computer to bigger
and better things until i sit down again. you on the other hand, search for
ways to hurt others and when you fail you visualize grand conspiracies
against you.

response letter? :-)

lol that entire paragraph is silly! it conveniently leaves you a way out no
matter what the answer is! i really dont care one way or another earle.
bottom line is that you are what we like to call a "busy-body". always
looking for fault in others in order to elevate yourself.

which explains NOTHING. ive read the comments from the other nurses earle.
i realize that in your self-imposed omnipotence you feel everyone should
place your opinion over everyone elses, but when i look at the bigger

I paid about $11,000 for my Wrangler new in 1994. It had the hard top, seat
upgrade, rear seat, console, carpet and cassette player. I got an extra
soft top at the time too. Then I found out about the difference, between YJ
half doors and YJ full doors. It took me a couple years, to straighten that
mess out.

It looks as if a new one, with a soft top only, lists for about $18,500.
Mine is only now getting broken in with 80,000 miles on it.

I don't know. For the most part, SMOG controls are cheap plastic that
should cost virtually nothing to make, and parts like suspensions,
transmissions, and engines get flimsier looking every year. The new
Wrangler base model has a Neon engine in it, while mine has a cast iron,
push rod engine, that people tell me should get another hundred thousand
with minimal repairs and maintenance. The Neon engine has a good reputation
too, but I don't like the looks of it.

answer, may allege both the truth of the matter charged as defamatory and
any mitigating circumstances..."

95% of the statements made by me are demonstrable as fact. The rest are
legitimate opinion, and protected by my First Amendment rights. A libel
suit would give me the opportunity to present all of the facts in a public
forum in my community. This is the last thing, that the spineless Board of
Directors, County Commission or Town Council wants. The law recognizes a
difference, too, between private citizens and public figures. Everyone
involved in this episode, except the patients of course, is a public figure,
by virtue of working, volunteering, or being a supervisor for the Ambulance
Association, which is, according to Colorado law, a "Government Financed
Entity". They have violated several laws, by conducting Ambulance
Association business in secret.

In a free society, public figures are fair game, for all sorts of comment
related to their job performance. When I slammed the Sheriff, for sitting

duty as a citizen. The main objection that people in my community have, to
what I am doing, is that it "hurts people's feelings". A rapist should not
be able to claim that his feelings have been hurt. Besides, people don't
bleed from hurt feelings.

This doesn't mean that you won't get sued for doing your civil duty, but you
should be able to dismiss it pretty easily. Tracy Bertch, for example,
tried to argue in her "stalking" suit that I was "defaming" her husband,
after I had demonstrated that her "evidence" was nothing but lies. This
would have given me an opening, to discuss all of her husband's misdeeds
in open court. She backed down pretty quick, after I sent a description of
Mike's behavior to their lawyer.

Usenet flame wars are fun, but exposing real people who have committed
serious misconduct, well, you can't get much better than that. I think the
most fun part, was that the slime sucking toad thought, that he would be
protected by "privacy considerations" as an Ambulance Association employee,
from having his misdeeds brought out in public. The letter I sent to the
town must have hit him like a two by four, and I didn't have to pay $10,000
medical bills to repair his "hurt feelings". Although the weasel has been
hiding in Austin, TX for almost a year, I am pretty sure that those feelings
are still busted.

Why anybody would rent a UHaul for a big move mystifies me.

You can possibly get a bum truck from anybody, but you are virtually
guaranteed a junker from UHaul.

Last truck I rented was from Penske. Professional operation, good
truck, good rate.
