Hi all, and thanks in advance for any insight.

I just replaced my 2K Wrangler TJ factory speakers with Pioneer 4X6 two ways
(ts-a4667) and swapped out the sound bar 5 1/4s with Pioneer 6.5s
(ts-a1667). It sounds better, but I still think it could sound a whole lot
better. The front speakers (4x6) seem distoreted somewhat. Now, I liked the
look of the factory CD player, but I am guessing that it probably is not a
good quality unit, and is reflected in the sound. I have used Pioneer setups
in the past with good results. I do not seek a mega boom system, just a good
clear sounding one. Has anyone used a DEH-1400 (Pioneer) in their wrangler,
and was it better than the stock? I have used the DEH-1400 in prior cars
with Pioneer speakers, and they sounded good to me. So, I guess I am
wondering is it the stock unit or just the acoustic challenges of owning a
jeep?

Thanks again!
-Robbie

Sorry I can't offer you any insight on the stereo... But, I have a question.
How did you swap the speakers in the sound bar for 6.5s? Did you have to
cut or drill? I'm thinking about swapping all the factory speakers like you
did, and would like to increase the size of the speakers in the sound bar if
it wasn't too much trouble. Also, any idea what size subwoofer fits in the
center console? Thanks for any info., sorry I couldn't;t help you with your
question.

the stock 5.25 and the 6.5's have the same bolt pattern. I was shocked, best
buy even listed the 6.5's as the suggested replacements for the sound bar

I also recently found that you can put 5.25's in the dash replacing the 4x6's I
wish I had known that before I upgraded mine.

to answer the original question , the factory head probably doses not push
enough, and how loud are you playing? If you want your ears to ring with the
top down 80mph, get an amp, if it sounds bad at "normal" volumes a new head
will probably fix it. 45+W X4,

I have a junky Aiwa (for sale) that sound great until I push it over 90% volume
that's loud at 80mph with the top off

01 sahara D44 9500I 31's and
a few outher homemade goodies

but outher wise stock (for now)
give it time, and money
