It was a gloomy April afternoon when I "won" my first "race". Hours before, I had stood among a nervous, shuffling group of men as Tommy Byrne, the mercurial, self-destructive, and inhumanly talented Competition Director of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, had explained what we would need to do to survive his "comp school": Don't [...]

The comments on the site are spot on. Years ago when I had a 5th gen
Prelude, it was my fond hope that Honda would ultimately import the R model
Accord sold in Europe. Of course, it came over to the US as an overpriced
Acura product which now is as ugly as the rest of the Acura line.
Somewhere along the way the idea was lost -- a high performance no frills I4
sedan. Fortunately, we still do have the Civic Si. As for the rest of the
Honda line-up, I saw a Cross Tour on the highway the other day -- ugh! At
least my 0-6 I4 Accord coupe has plenty of life left in it as nothing in
the Honda/Acura line-up does anything for me -- except perhaps the Civic Si.

I have a 2009 Si. Handling isn't quite up to my '94 GS-R and I miss
the Hatchback. But the engine is unbelievable. It is so smooth that
I am always hitting the 8500 rpm rev limiter without realizing I am
even close. (Needs a heads up tach I guess.) Some other things I
don't like about the car but Honda hasn't forgotten how to make high
revving engines.
