Does anyone have a 92-95 Honda Civic 4 door with trunk leaks above the
rear tail lights? Desperately need help.

The tail lights seal gaskets are still good and dry after heavy rain
fall. NO holes from the outside of the rear tail light housing. The
plastic peice below the rear windshield is clean and silicone up too
to isolate the leak. Still leaks.

I thought water was coming in from the Rear Windshield seals but I
silicone them up to isolate the leak around the rear windshield. On
the inside of the car, at the bottom corners of the rear windshield
theres a little rust at the edge of the frame. I Silicone that area
and no water seems to be coming in there. Still leaks in trunk above
the right rear tail lights. Above left tail lights is starting to
drip.

I still have no idea where this water is coming from.

I think it's coming from above somewhere because water forms above the
rear tailight inside the trunk, but again, the seals are dry the
tailights are dry and not leaking.

Any trunk leak experiences or suggestions would be appreciated.
Please no dumb ass remarks and Import hating replys.

Thanks in advance to all.

Does the car have a sunroof?

If so there are two hoses that come down the side pillars to a point
just behind the tailights. There's a fitting there that conducts the
water that leaks in around the sunroof seals to the outside. Sometimes
the hose pulls off the fitting. Then you get water in the trunk.

We had to have my wifes 98 civic coupe repaired after some hail damage so
they had to take out the rear window. It started leaking into the trunk so
i took it back and had them take the window off and reinstall it. It fixed
the problem
Good luck

Hey, thanks.

I have no sunroof. I checked and have no water hoses for sunroof
either.

Any other trunk leaks experience out there? I read alot of post on the
net and it's mostly the tail light gaskets or sunroof.

Thanks again in advance.

Yes, mine (1993 4 door) leaks in exactly the same spot, I do not have
a sun roof. I am thinking of using some food coloring to figure out
where it is coming in, will post a reply if I figure it it.

I have a 1991 Civic 4-door whose trunk leaked. The left taillight and rear
brake light covers accumulated water, also. I googled and followed the
silicone advice. The light assemblies are not too hard to unplug and take
apart. Once apart, I cleaned off the gaskets and let them dry. I then
caulked both sides of the gasket where it contacted the light assembly and
car frame. This fixed the left taillight and rear brake light leaks and
drastically reduced the water getting into the trunk, but my trunk still had
some leakage. I figured water was somehow getting around the right taillight
assembly and caulked it, too, even though no water was accumulating in it.
This fixed the trunk leak.

Tube of silicone caulk: Under $7

Caulking gun: Under $5

Gaskets of all materials may look fine but will then leak like a sieve.

Please post a follow-up. :-)

thanks to everyone who replied to my recent post about the Civic Trunk
Leak.

I have found where the leak is coming from in my trunk.
Like I said before my tail lights and gaskets are dry, but water was
forming above the tail light inside the trunk itself.

It turn out for me, there was a little tiny gap between where the
trunk is wielded to the rear right upper quarter pane. Right under the
corner of the right rear windshield. The original car molding had worn
out and there was a tiny gap where water was leaking in. This explains
why water was coming down on a panel in the trunk and drip on top of
the rear tail lights but not inside the tail lights.

I found this buy shining a flash light on the inside of the trunk and
look at the seam at eye level. This happened by accident as I was
bending down to put silicone on the inside of the trunk.

All sealed up with silicone. Hopes this helps others in situation like
mine.
Thanks again to all that reply.
