Can a non-honda tech reset the Maintenance Required light on a '99 Accord?
If I go to a quick oil change place, can they reset this light?

Also, is there some where on line that I can check a vehicle's maintenance
history by VIN? I know its dependant on someone recording the info, butis
it available?

You can reset this light if you really want to. Read your owner's manual.

Marcus.

you can check the history of vehicle by running a CarFax report
(www.carfax.com), but it is not %100 bullet proof. it is $14.95 for one time
use and $19.95 for unlimited use for 2 months.

If this isn't in the FAQ, it should be since it gets asked so many times.

Assuming you don't have an owners manual, here's how to do it:

Push in the odometer button and keep pushing down while you start the car;
don't let off until the light goes out which is about 10 seconds.

You don't have to start the car--just keep the key set to the on position

Thanks, Dennis! I picked up the car used, and about a week later the light
came on. that did the trick.
