I was going to wax my 99 EX Accord (emerald green pearl) this last weekend
and after a thorough wash and dry my hood looked as if the cotton cloth had
left a bunch of lint on it. Upon closer investigation I found it was not
lint but what appeared to be an (for lack of a better word) antiquing affect
of the paint...clear coat. It literally looks like a couple of 100 year old
oil painting where the paint is crackling. The crackling is white and it
does look like very small cotton lint. If you rub the paint there is no
texture to it so it's under the paint/clear coat. My uneducated mind when
it comes to the painting process of a car wants to think that the clear coat
is cracking. Any thoughts, other than I'm probably gonna have to have the
hood repainted next spring. I've got an appointment at a recommended paint
shop on Monday.
Thanks in advance,
Rick
