2001 CRV Rear Seats

What are the levers for on the sides of the rear seats? When I pull on
them I can lift the plastic panel up that is underneath the cushion, but I
can't see a reason why this part lifts up? Is there some function besides
the seat folding down that I am missing out on here?

Use that lever to lift the seat bottom up at an angle. Then angle the
seat-back back all the way. Now slide the front seat all the way forward,
remove the front-seat headrest and tip the front-seat-back all the way back.
Voila, a strange kind of bed no one asked for, and Honda doesn't really talk
about, except in the owners manual. Works better on the passenger side where
the steering wheel isn't in your way. Add tinted windows and you have the
world's most cramped love-mobile.
