Hi All:

Great newsgroup. I thinking about taking my car in for a timing belt
change. This dealership is the closest to where I live, Beaverton-OR.
Any opinions on their service department? Any alternate dealerships in
the Portland metro area that does good quality work. This place wants
$515 for the timing, balancer, water pump and all drive belts change.

My car is a 92 accord.

Jeez, I paid $300 for a timing belt replacement, valve adjustment and
radiator flush. It wasn't at the Honda dealership, but my mechanic used
to work there, opened up his own shop and is Honda certified.

I made an appointment to have some minor work done on my car at Beaverton
Honda. I told them it was my only car, so I would have to wait for it, so
they gave me a specific time to be there. When I arrived and processed the
paperwork they told me it would be ready sometime after 5pm. I explained
about my appointment and they said that was only to turn the car in, they
had no idea when they would start on it. I went to see the manager and got
the same response. I left with my car and haven't been back. When I get
ready to buy my next Honda later this year, guess who I am not going to go
see.

Try Gresham Honda. Their prices are a little lower. They only charged me
$250 for timing belt, water pump and a oil change.

I've had ok experiences with Thomason In Gladstone. They're open until
midnight so you can make an afternoon/evening appointment, make it clear
you'll be waiting and get your car worked on right away. At least that has
been my personal experience.

Their prices have been competitive when I've made the phone rounds of
Portland area dealers.
