Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe (3.8L V6 supercharged)

Ford Mustang GT 4.6L or 5.0L (Both stock ofcourse)
??
: Ford Mustang GT 4.6L
Yes. Based only on what I have seen and know of the cars.
or 5.0L (Both stock ofcourse)
: ??
Nope. Based only on what I have seen and know of the cars. I have always
handled them quite well. The T-Bird SC is a fairly fast car for it's size.
:)
The above is with all things being equal, same cars, same drivers.

It should not be if both driver are the same... And of course, if the
Mustang is manual, it would piss off the Thunderbird driver even worse :)

Wife and I used to have a supercharged Cougar XR7, and it did scoot for its
size. The engine made a little more torque than the 5.0 and a little less hp.
Ours had the AOD, so it would probably run neck and neck with any AOD stang 4.6
or 5.0, but a stick stang would've taken it handily.

And we all know how much Mustang drivers -hate- to piss off T-Birds. I
don't look in the mirror to see if they're pissed or not. :)

If they do beat you, you can always flip them off as you zip around
them after they've slowed down. That ought to piss 'em off.

Wouldn't work. My Mustang isn't riced out........maybe I need a temporary
'rice dress up kit' that I could slap on in a few minutes. Then I could
look really cool when I have the urge to flip the bird.

You've owned a '95 (?) GT and this Cougar XR7, what else have you owned? Just
curious.....

The SC that I'm thinking of buying is a Manual, they just don't make a
manual LX thunderbird

My first mustang was a black '82 GT. I should get some pictures of it scanned.
About a year ago I bought and sold an '80 Cobra within about 2 months. It was
going to be my race car, but my wife wanted money for a down payment on her
Toyota. Bummer. Right now we have a '98 Toyota Rav4 and a '97 Cobra. The '97
Cobra may get replaced by two cars for various reasons. One of the replacement
cars is going to be an older 5 liter stang ala Project White Trash.

What was the last year of production for the Super Coupe? Were they
always available with the 5spd?

It should be able to do 15's in the 1/4. maybe the new ones are faster

An automatic SC wil run 15.2 or so ('94 or '95). A 5 speed will run
high 14s. They have problems with wheel hop. They are quite torquey
for large cars, and handle well also....

The supercharged Cougar were only made in '89-'90. They made 210 hp,
315 lb/ft of torque. The '94+ TBird SCs had 230 hp and 330 lb/ft of
torque. They did run a bit harder.

That's more torque than any mustang built on the Fox platform.
I've always wanted to know why this engine wasn't an option for the stang.
Imagine a 3.8 that moves a stang with ease. Oh joy. And why doesn't someone
stick one in custom like. I've toyed with the idea of doing this to a '94-'95
3.8 stang, but I'm not made of money. Anyone want to finance my idea?

The Super Coupe's block is alot stronger than a regular 3.8 to stand the
strain. Plus the block and heads are aluminum.
Why didn't anybody do this? You'd get more performance and engine life by
adding a supercharger to a 5.0. And it beats overworking a V-6
The mustang always blew the bird of the line.
The bird passed the mustang at 95-100 every time.
Both cars were factory stock.
Later!
