Jeff,

When I lived there, 3 years ago, there was a great Texaco station with a
garage that did all my work. They were in South Tampa, and I'm having a
heck of a time remembering the street.

It was over near El Prado and Manhattan I think, just past the Winn Dixie if
it is still there. That is about a mile north of Gandy on Manhattan. They
were originally at a Texaco quick oil change on El Prado and Westshore or
thereabouts, but they moved to the expanded location because they were doing
so much work. I suspect that is because they are good.

I originally went to them because the jiffy lube on Gandy turned me away at
5:55pm one evening, so I went down to the Texaco quick lube on Westshore and
the guy was closing the garage. I pulled up and he walked over and asked
what I needed. I told him I needed an oil change and he lifted the garage
door back up and told me to pull it in...

We got to talking and there was (at that time) another guy there with a 5.0
who was enthusiastic about my Cobra. They began suggesting mods for the
car. I ended up doing many of them over the years.

They put the MAC 1 1/2 EL's on my 93 Mustang Cobra, and they also did the
3.55 gears. They usually have Chevelles and Buicks out front, but they just
like cars - period. After I got the headers installed, (they gave me a hard
time for getting EL's, said they were a bear to install, but didn't charge
me a dime more than promised, and the install was exceptional) they offered
me a case of beer.

I asked if they didn't have it backwards, and they said that EVERYONE tips
mechanics with cases of beer, and they can't drink as much as they get!
<grin>

Seriously good guys that did exceptional quality work on my car every time I
brought it in, even if they weren't a Mustang shop...

Good luck!

Ramsey's Performance Inc. (813)885-5913
It's near the airport just off Hillsborough Ave. I think it's strictly
a Mustang shop. Denise Ramsey has actually been featured in one or two
Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords articles.

Ramsey's Perfomance installed a King Cobra clutch in my 97 GT.
Everyone I spoke to when I was trying to find a shop to do the clutch
recommended them. They did a great job on my car. I've seen a lot of
their work on other cars and it's always been first rate.
